The Purpose of Exercising:

Under normal circumstances, exercising one’s body would not be necessary. Man, like every other animal, was meant to live in nature, have plenty of fresh air, and be involved in enough physical activity to keep the body fit and vital. Technological and economic advancements, however, have led to an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, which requires physical exercise to keep our bodies healthy and strong.

The purpose of physical exercise is not just to prove to ourselves that we are able to defy the aging process, look good, or prevent a heart attack. Exercise also enhances our capacity to digest food and eliminate physical and emotional impurities. Furthermore, it increases firmness and suppleness, as well as our ability to deal with stressful situations. The lymphatic system, especially, which drains toxic and noxious substances from the connective tissues of the organs and muscles, depends on the daily movement of all the parts of the body. Unlike the blood, which has a heart to circulate it around the body, the lymph fluid has no such direct pumping device to do the same. The lymphatic system heavily relies on the breathing mechanism and how well we use it. When the muscle responsible for the breathing action of the lungs (diaphragm) extends into the abdomen, it exerts great pressure on the intestinal lymph vessels, thereby squeezing their contents. This forces the lymph to move through the lymph ducts, such as the thoracic duct. Thus, each inhalation and exhalation acts as an indirect pump for the lymphatic system. Shallow breathing that results from a sedentary lifestyle (and intestinal congestion) has a detrimental effect on proper lymph drainage. Exercise can greatly improve lymphatic functions and thereby prevent a multitude of diseases.

Physical exercise is a great immune-stimulant if done in moderation, and it also improves neuromuscular integration in all age groups. Its effect of boosting self-confidence and self-esteem stems, to some extent, from the improved oxygen supply to the cells and the resulting well-being in all parts of the body and mind. Exercise is an excellent means of increasing happiness in life, especially if it involves challenges that require creativity.

The conventional approach to exercise promotes the belief that a good workout takes you to the limits of your endurance, leaving you exhausted and tired. This is not true. Exercise that exhausts your body is an indirect act of violence that the body perceives as a kind of punishment for not performing well enough. The pain that shows in people’s faces when they struggle through a tough workout program is an indication that the body is suffering from overexertion. This sort of exercise defeats its purpose. Any form of strong physical exertion upsets Vataand causes the secretion of abnormal amounts of stress hormones such as adrenaline; this leaves the body restless and shaky. The body, thus depleted of energy, is unable to do the repair work that arises from the demanding workout, leaving the cardiovascular system weak and vulnerable to other stress factors.

Post-exercise exhaustion is a serious cause of illness that affects many unsuspecting people who think they are doing themselves a favor by pushing their bodies to the limit. In the excitement of competitive sports, you may not be aware at first how strenuously you are exerting yourself, but once the adrenaline rush is over, the side effects start kicking in. Besides exhaustion and possible injury, professional athletes are more likely to suffer from a deficient immune system, which makes the body prone to infections and other ailments. For this reason, athletes consume a much larger quantity of prescribed drugs than the average person does. The thymus gland, which activates lymphocytes and controls energy supplies, may actually shrink in size and leave the body weak and debilitated as a direct result of over conditioning the body and stressing the mind.

Exercise According to the Doshas:

Exercise is best done according to one’s capacity and psycho-physiological body type.

Vata type, who has the lowest capacity for exercise, benefits mostly from such easy ways of keeping fit as walking, dancing, bicycling, taking short hikes, balancing and stretching. Vatas generally do well with Yoga, Tai Chi, and Chi Kung. Since Vata types experience energy in bursts, they should be particularly careful not to overexert themselves. When their energy suddenly drops, they can feel depleted for a long time afterward. This often results in depression.

Pitta types, being competitive by nature, are equipped with more drive and energy than Vatas. They generally are not satisfied with the more ordinary forms of working out. To achieve physical satisfaction, they need a more goal-oriented exercise program. However, they also do not have boundless energy and are better off exercising in moderation.Pittas feel challenged by hiking in the mountains, skiing, jogging, swimming, playing tennis or engaging in other sports that generate in them a sense of achievement.

In sports, you can easily recognize the unbalanced Pitta types. They are often bad losers and may get angry if they feel they are ‘not good enough’. Pittas who get angry while performing should look for a less competitive exercise program to increase their level of satisfaction. Since excessive heat is a sign of unbalanced Pitta, swimming, which has a cooling influence, is one of the best forms of exercise for them. A walk in the cool forest is another excellent way to pacify an unbalanced Pitta type.

Kapha types are the ideal candidates for a good or moderately heavy workout. Weight training, running, rowing, some aerobics, long distance bicycling, dancing for a long time, playing football, basketball and tennis are all very suitable for a Kapha. The Kapha type’s steady energy gives him the necessary endurance and stamina to last through long competitive games without feeling tired. Exercise will clear out any excessive Kapha congestion, remove excessive water and fat, and improve general circulation. This will leave him feeling refreshed and buoyant afterward.

Basic Guidelines for Healthy Exercise:

It is best not to exercise at more than 50 percent of your capacity, whatever that means to you. The purpose of exercising is not to prove to others how capable you are, but to derive personal benefit and satisfaction from it. If you are able to run for 30 minutes before you are tired, then make the choice to run for only 15 minutes. Getting tired during exercise defeats its very purpose. Feeling refreshed, revitalized and energetic afterward indicates that the workout has been successful. In due time, your capacity for exercise will naturally increase on its own.

Stop exercising when you feel the need to breathe through the mouth. Once you are forced to breathe through the mouth, rather than through the nose, you have gone beyond the 50 percent threshold of your capacity for exercise at that time. This is a sign that your body has moved into the adrenaline-breathing mode, which uses up your basic energy reserves and depletes cellular oxygen. You have reached your limit when you feel your heart pounding violently, you begin to sweat profusely, or your body shakes. In that case it is good to finish off with a short period of walking and breathing normally. The basic rule is always to breathe through the nose and not through the mouth. Exercise to the point of perspiration once a day.

You need good, strong muscles to meet the typical demands of the day, such as climbing stairs, carrying groceries, picking up young children, cleaning your home, riding horseback, swimming in a lake, going for a hike or bike ride, or performing other natural activities, without being at risk for injury. The best way to increase muscle tone and strength is to quickly raise heart and muscle activity to the point of panting, followed by a period of low activity (called ‘active recovery’). One to two-minute intervals (of activity and rest) are ideal. Doing this for 10-20 minutes per day has more benefits than engaging in hours of strenuous exercise. Besides, it increases muscle tone, lung capacity and heart health. During the panting phases, the body uses up its complex sugar reserves in the muscles. For those who desire weight loss, this method causes you to lose weight after exercising, as the body tries to replenish its lost sugar reserves by breaking down fat deposits while you are resting. Weight loss achieved during strenuous endurance exercise programs, on the other hand, tends to be reversed because the body tries to quickly replenish the lost fat deposits in order to prepare itself for the next energy-depleting round of exercise. The body perceives the strenuous exercise as a threat. Vata and Pitta types are those who are affected most negatively by strenuous exercise. Pure Kapha types are the only people who can benefit from it.

It is best to exercise during daylight hours. The best capacity for exercise is available during the Kapha period in the morning (6:00-10:00 a.m.) and at the end of the Vata period in the afternoon (5:00-6:00 p.m.). The benefits of exercise increase dramatically when it is done in sunlight.

Ayurveda discourages exercising after sundown. Allow the body to slow down in the evening and prepare itself for a restful and rejuvenating sleep. Never exercise just before or after a meal, as this impairs AGNI, the digestive fire, and causes indigestion. However, walking for 15 minutes after meals works as a good digestive aid. Always drink water before and after exercising to prevent the blood from thickening and the cells from becoming dehydrated.

A note of caution about aerobic exercise:

The medical journal, Lancet, reported that aerobic exercise can cause deadly arterial clogging and heart disease in those who had never before had heart trouble. According to The American Journal of Cardiology, jogging has similarly caused some runners to drop dead from heart attacks. Their autopsies show severe coronary artery disease. Any regular, strenuous form of exercise actually does about as much damage to your heart as continuous stress does. The heart literally comes under constant attack via the excessive exercise sessions. Marathon runners are known to lose muscle mass, both in the heart and the rest of the body. Many have dropped dead just after reaching the finishing line. Short distance sprinters, on the other hand, develop healthy muscles and strong hearts.

Vigorous weight training can be equally damaging. It leads to abnormally enlarged, bloated muscle fibers that actually become dysfunctional and prone to injuries. Oversized muscles constantly use up a lot of precious energy (complex sugar reserves), energy that your body requires for its more important activities. Weight training also adds excessive muscle tissue to parts of the body where it was never designed to be, thus hindering natural patterns of movement. Lifting heavy weights can also raise your blood pressure and increase the risk of strokes and aneurysms. By nature, the human body was not made to deal with the additional gravitational force imposed upon it while lifting heavy weights. Frequently stressing the joints, muscles and tendons causes them to age prematurely. Excessive weight training can cause permanent damage to the body.

The Root Causes Of Many Symptoms And Diseases, Even Obesity, Are Often Not Obvious

Obesity is a result of toxicity

Our physical health and well-being are more intimately connected to our gut and bowels than we may think. After all, that’s where it all begins and ends – with digestion and elimination and, of course, everything in between. To put it simply, what we take in, how we process it and what we keep inside rather than eliminate have everything to do with the diseases we suffer from. Obesity is one of the more direct and obvious consequences of being driven towards what I call a ‘toxicity crisis.’

The mind-body connection

Add to this the mind-body connection and it lends a whole new dimension. The very same processes apply to the human mind – the thoughts and feelings that preoccupy us, how we deal with them and the things we find hard to let go of and that build up as emotional toxins.

In a perfect world, the mind and body would act in tandem to produce health and happiness. But what happens when the intestines and lymphatic system get polluted and congested?

Obesity is usually the result of internal pollution and congestion starting with the liver, small intestine, bowel and finally the lymphatic system. Of course, it is a little more complex than that but there is no escaping the fact that individuals who are overweight are actually poisoning themselves.

What the ‘experts’ say

Conventional weight-loss experts would have you believe that it is the food you eat and amount of exercise you get that determine whether you are overweight or not, and how you can shed the extra pounds. It is called the ‘calories-in, calories-out’ approachto weight loss. These ‘professionals’ suggest that you adopt complex and sophisticated diets and they even have impressive mathematical formulae to count the calories you gain and lose at every stage. Throw in some common-sense advice about regular eating habits and sleeping well and often you end up with the perfect weight-loss plan. Or so they would have you believe.

While it is a fact that the food you eat is critical in determining whether you stay healthy or not, burning fat or calories through vigorous exercise is absolutely unnecessary. Neither is pushing the limits of physical endurance, which is brutal and suggests that you care very little for your body.

Most of all, conventional weight-reduction programs address only what you see, that is, the symptoms of disease – a fatty roll under the diaphragm, belly fat, ‘love handles’ and cellulite on the upper arms and thighs. Of course, there is a different set of exercises for every body part that has piled on excess adipose.

What these weight-loss programs fail to address is the cause of obesity. Why does the body feel the need to put on pounds? What is it defending itself against? And what kind of toxicity crisis is it reeling under?

The dynamic energy that helps digest our food

Powering our very existence is the life force or chi or Prana, digesting your food is Agni or the digestive fire, and determining the movement of fluids and energy in your tissues, organs, muscles and bloodstream are the three doshas - Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

Each dosha is distinguished from the other by its type of energy, the biological processes it governs and natural rhythms and cycles.

Disturbances in the natural energy that flows through your body and keeps you alive cause imbalances in digestive functions, waste disposal and immunological processes. This eventually leads to a state of internal pollution and congestion.

The beginning of obesity, its true causes

When the liver, stomach, intestines, bowels and lymphatic systems accumulate toxins, they get poisoned, they harden, they get distorted, and they lose their natural shape and functions in a futile attempt to adjust to this new but unhealthy internal environment. This is the beginning of obesity,gastrointestinal problems and a number of other diseases like cancer. Before we explore these processes and the consequences of their malfunctioning on obesity, let me tell you something that might surprise you.

Did you know that gallstones can lead to severe back pain? Not only does a severely congested gallbladder lead to a fatty liver and the accumulation of weight around the midriff, it also causes spasmodic pain attacks in the back region.

Is it purely coincidental that over 60 percent of Americans are estimated to have back problems and about the same percentage of Americans are overweight? Both conditions are characterized by a digestive system that is malfunctioning, choking, backing up and in distress.

As you see, the root causes of many symptoms and diseases, even obesity, are often not obvious. There is a supreme logic and rhythm to every biological process and the interactions between all of them. But addressing them in a symptomatic way as allopathic medicine does, separates you even further from the cause.

The human body is constantly searching for equilibrium. When things are out of gear, the body then tries to compensate by quite literally bending itself out of shape. This happens till it can no longer take the overload – the toxicity crisis boils over – and manifests itself as disease. Once you understand how illness, and even obesity, is ‘created’, you will also understand how to reverse it.

Our Life Is Controlled By What We Eat And What We Think

1. A WHOLESOME DIET

Most people who go on a diet do it because they want to lose weight, or get rid of an annoying skin problem or a disease. But a special diet adopted for these reasons may neither be very beneficial nor procure lasting benefits. Unconsciously you may have linked this diet, however good it may be, with something you fear. Every time you eat, your brain and digestive system produce ‘chemicals of fear’ that act as suppressants of digestion, assimilation and elimination. You are actually afraid of the diet and your body will treat the food you eat as if it were an antigen (a foreign agent that needs to be destroyed). This may lead to food intolerance and even to allergic reactions.

Nevertheless, you can change the reasons why you want to lose weight or help a physical problem. One of the most important steps in this regard is to make improved well-being your Number One motivation for introducing a healthy diet and regimen. What your body is really after is happiness. Happiness can be created by any activity, including eating food. Learn to make the eating process a means to increase happiness in your life and begin to introduce those foods in your diet that are particularly pure and able to enhance your impulse to evolve; Ayurveda calls them sattvic foods.

Sattva, Rajas and Tamas – Three Principal Forces of Life

Sattva is one of the three principal forces or gunas behind every phenomenon and activity in life. With regard to human life, Sattva motivates us to grow, expand, progress and evolve spiritually, mentally and physically, and to find our higher purpose. Like everything in the universe, Sattva has its exact opposite, Tamas, which forces us to stay where we are. Tamas is the force that retards progress, causes stagnation and tempts us to hold on to past events and outdated beliefs. The third force, called Rajas, serves as a neutral link between Sattva and TamasRajas urges us to act, take initiative, move and change, regardless of the direction, outcome or purpose.

All these three qualities are present in everyone and, depending on one’s diet, lifestyle, thoughts, emotions and behavior, expressed in various degrees and intensities. The following are some characteristic descriptions of each guna.

Sattvic person favors progress above everything else. He derives great pleasure from being creative and innovative. He has a deep respect for life and nature and he always seeks a healthy and life-supportive environment. Sattvic people naturally have healthy habits and prefer pure and energizing foods.

Rajasic person favors action for action’s sake, regardless of whether it is good for him or not. He has an inner urge to move, overwork his mind and body, be impulsive and impatient and look for an outlet for his nervous creativity. Rajasic people seem to have endless energy and are very extrovert. They prefer stimulating foods and drinks.

Tamasic person does not want to change and prefers everything to stay as it is. His inactive mind finds comfort in set routines and accustomed environments. Tamasic people tend to dwell on the past and try to avoid the present and future. They rarely develop new ideas or habits in life.

The three gunasRajasSattva, and Tamas, are mental qualities that correspond to the three physical doshas, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Ayurveda had a clear understanding about mind/body medicine when it linked basic mental impulses to specific physical conditions, tendencies and disorders. It also categorized foods according to their effects on the mind.

Sattvic food is wholesome whereas rajasic and tamasic foods are unwholesome. Charaka, one of the founders of Ayurvedic Medicine, said thousands of years ago: “The body is constituted of food. Wholesome food is one of the causes for the growth of living beings and unwholesome food is one of the causes for the growth of diseases.” In other words, if we want to progress in life, become vital and healthy and live in harmony with the laws of nature, we need to adopt a sattvic diet. Particularly those who would like to enhance their spiritual growth can benefit greatly from a sattvic diet. The following lists give you an idea about the different effects that food can have on body and mind. The quotations, which explain the three types of diet, are taken from the Bhagavad Gita, a 5,000-year-old scripture that narrates in detail the interplay of the three gunas in a person who treads the spiritual path and reaches spiritual enlightenment.

The Sattvic Diet

“Sattvic diet is that which is unctuous, pleasing to the heart and mind, which stabilizes the body and gives long life, strength and health to the mind and body. A sattvic diet promotes happiness and love for all creatures.” (Bhagavad Gita)

Sattvic diet is sweet in taste, light, unctuous (liquid containing), and cooling (versus heating like in chilli, alcohol etc.). Sattvic foods include:

  • Breast milk (for babies)
  • Ghee(clarified butter)
  • Butter
  • Wheat
  • Basmati rice
  • Yellow mung beans
  • Freshly cooked vegetables
  • Ripened fruits
  • Sesame seeds
  • Rock salt or real sea salt
  • Sesame oil
  • Ginger
  • Dates
  • Almonds
  • Honey
  • Fresh spring water

Any food that has a soothing effect and is digested easily is sattvic by nature, provided we eat it in moderation. Please note: If any of the above foods do not pass the Kinesiology muscle test, they are not fresh, harvested too early, too old, contain harmful chemicals from fertilization, are gassed to preserve them for longer periods, or have been combined with unwholesome foods or ingredients. You may also check with the list of foods for specific body types, which will help you find out what kinds of fruits, vegetables etc. are sattvic for you. Ayurveda considers the sattvic diet to be the most suitable for promoting strength, vitality, a strong mind and lasting good moods, youthfulness and longevity. By beginning to include sattvic foods in your diet, unwholesome habits, addictions and ill health will gradually disappear.

The Rajasic Diet

“A Rajasic diet is that which brings unhappiness, sorrow and disease. It contains mostly the pungent, sour and salty tastes, and it is too hot, sharp and dry, and causes burning sensation” (Bhagavad Gita).

The Rajasic diet is too spicy, strong tasting (like cheese) and includes foods that have a heating effect such as chilli, garlic, onions, pepper, tomatoes, cheese (aged, salted), ripe eggplants, some pulses, meat, fish, sea food, eggs, alcohol, tea, coffee, cigarettes, sugary foods, soft drinks, crisps and similar junk foods. If you are continuously attracted to these or similar foods, it indicates that there may already be a physical or emotional imbalance.

The Tamasic Diet

“Tamasic diet is that which is stored and spoiled, which is without taste and has a bad smell; also leftovers, and food which does not look appealing” (Bhagavad Gita).

Tamasic food is heavy, cold, dry, tasteless, decayed, spoiled, frozen or cooked in the microwave oven. People who do not mind eating tamasic foods are already controlled by the dulling influence of tamas, thus they are insensitive to purity and refined values. Poisoned by tamas and unable to appreciate pure foods and drinks such as water,tamasic people seem to be able to eat almost anything without a problem. Such people are likely to develop life-threatening diseases at some point in their lives.

2. THE POWER OF THOUGHT

A Change of Thoughts

Since every thought manifests as a powerful messenger molecule in the brain, by changing your way of thinking you not only improve your body but also your relationships and your destiny. If the pilot of an airplane decides to change its course by even half a degree the plane may arrive at a completely different destination.

A change of thought can have a similar effect. Remember how good you felt when someone close to you told you how much he or she loved you or cared about you. By contrast, try to imagine how you would feel if your best friend turned around and told you how much they despised you. A little piece of information can be enough to change your entire life. If you don’t like the way you live your life at this moment you can change its course by taking a new decision right now. Take a few minutes to become clear about what you want out of life and then decide to achieve it.

If you face a major problem in life for which there doesn’t seem to be a solution, you may feel that your whole world is collapsing. But if you could see yourself ten years from now and looked back in time, you would realize that life didn’t stop after all. By simply moving your attention away from what is not possible to what is possible, you will be back on track. It’s as easy as that. Whenever you are facing a serious problem in life, go through the following simple steps which are designed to take you into a more positive and constructive space than you are in right now:

  • Think of any one thing or person that makes you feel good. Begin to realize how important this one thing or person is for you and how fortunate you are to have it or them in your life.
  • Think of all the people who are not as fortunate as you are, like the homeless, sick and starving.
  • Imagine how you would feel if you fulfilled your heart’s desire(s).
  • What would you do as a first step towards achieving your goal?

One of the main reasons we attract problems into our lives is because we don’t do what makes us happy. We send out negative messages by saying: “I wish I didn’t have to work so hard”, “How in the world did I deserve this?” or “Life is a struggle!” Your life, and that includes the current condition of your body and mind, is the product of your thoughts and feelings. Thoughts influence everything far or near, material or non-material. If you want to examine what kind of thoughts you had yesterday, then look at your body today. If you want to know what your body is going to be like tomorrow, look at the thoughts you are having today. Every movement and activity in your body and mind is controlled or matched by the corresponding neurotransmitters. Not a single idea, desire, feeling, like, dislike understanding or misunderstanding can go through your mind without creating corresponding physical counterparts.

Happiness – Your Key to Nature’s Drug Store

Your brain is capable of manufacturing any drug that could possibly be made anywhere in the world, provided it receives the ‘go ahead’ signal from you, its master. The brain requires neither a sophisticated chemical laboratory nor much time to develop the most exquisite drugs for any type of physical or mental problem. With the few types of natural food ingredients mentioned above, it makes neuropeptides and related chemicals for every condition you could possibly develop.

For example, if you suffer from pain, your brain makes endorphins and enkephalines, morphine type compounds that are at least 40,000 times more powerful than the strongest heroin. If you injured yourself and your brain didn’t instantly produce these drugs, you would not be able to endure the pain and would faint or go insane quickly. Since endorphins are also related to the experience of pleasure, you will make more of these drugs when you find joy in what you are doing. People who suffer from emotional pain soon begin to have physical pain, too; their brains are inhibited from making adequate amounts of painkillers.

If your body signals ‘cancer’, your brain synthesizes anti-cancer drugs or immune-stimulants that boost your immune system to take care of the problem before you even know it. Each day, millions of our body cells mutate and become cancerous but our immune system deals with them instantly and without the help of chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. We do not have to concern ourselves with the millions of new cancer cells each day unless, of course, our body fails to destroy them. Cancer is the physical counterpart of an unbalanced emotion that contains a clear message: “There is an antagonistic element in your life which is wasting away your body.” This foreign element can be low self-worth, repressed emotions, a negative outlook on one’s life, an unexpressed or unfulfilled desire, defensive responses to a hostile partner or environment, or an unbalanced diet. Usually, there is a combination of factors. Instead of trying to cut out this foreign element, you can learn from it and transform it for your own good.

We generally tend to blame heart attacks, cancer, osteoporosis, AIDS, etc. for causing most deaths in the world as if these diseases were powerful monsters that are out to destroy life indiscriminately. Only a few of the people afflicted with a serious illness question why they manifested it in the first place. Instead of deciding to put all your energy and effort into a particular problem, which tends to escalate it, you can direct your attention towards what you feel could contribute to your happiness. Make happiness your motivation and goal. Always seek happiness as the reward for your actions and the rest follows automatically. Wherever there is happiness, there are solutions and wherever there is unhappiness, there are problems.

Energy Follows Thought

Energy follows thought is an excellent phrase to remember. Do not waste your energy on a disease, on a difficult partnership, on your financial troubles or on an annoying neighbor. You are practically feeding these problems with your energy and thus will maintain or even worsen them. This may give you the illusion that they are real. When you analyze all the solution to problems worldwide, they have never been found by dwelling on the problem. Conflicts, wars, economic struggles, disasters, etc. ended when the involved groups or people began to focus their attention on what was possible rather than what was impossible. We always have the choice and freedom either to argue over who or what is responsible for our problems or to look for real solutions. There is no need to know what causes the darkness of the night when we know that there will be a dawn of a new day.

You may remember how downcast you were when your life was in a state of crisis and how remote and insignificant that problem became a while later. A problem begins to dissipate when we take our attention away from it. For example, if you suffer from a sleeping problem, instead of worrying over the fact that you cannot sleep, you could bring your attention to your breathing or think of things or people who bring you happiness. Suddenly you will find that insomnia isn’t so bad after all, and then you will drift off naturally. Should the problem persist, use it as an opportunity to take a closer look at your life. If you are not happy at night times, it indicates that you have not been happy during the day either. Use the insomnia to find out what doesn’t make you happy in life and then think about how you can change it.

You may decide that you want a better job that inspires and fulfills you more. Be daring when it comes to fulfilling your sire but do not admit defeat before even trying. The argument that you may not be competent or clever enough for a better job is illusory. You will always be good enough for a job you feel attracted to as long as you focus on it. If you keep telling yourself that you are not good enough, you have created the exact limitations that will keep you there until you come up with the courage to say that you deserve much better.

We let ourselves be so easily persuaded to believe that it is another person, society, the government or even destiny that holds us back from achieving our dreams. But it is only our limited thinking that keeps us confined to failure or lack of success. The old saying “where there is a will, there is a way” is a law that holds true for everyone under any circumstance. The three P’sPatience, Persistence and Perseverance, have been the dominating qualities that have helped transform common people into the most successful and pioneering personalities the world has ever seen. It was Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a better society that propelled him to endure the difficulties of his life. Stephen Hawking became one the most brilliant physicists in the world despite his total speech deficiency and paralysis. Instead of dwelling on his incapacitating disease or feeling sorry for himself, he made an enormous contribution towards understanding and utilizing the most fundamental laws of nature.

The greatest athletes of the world have had their fair share of major difficulties before they managed to rise to the op. Most famous artists and musicians had to go through periods of failure and rejection before they were acknowledged to be among the best. Many of the truly successful people share one common principle of living: they want to be more and more creative because they know that being creative is the only source of happiness. We all share the same infinite potential that creates and maintains the entire universe. What makes the biggest difference between people is that some have decided to use their potential and apply the three P’s in their life, whereas others have not. You, too, can make that decision. You can make it right now! All it needs is a shift of attention.

A Note on the Blood Type Diet – A Personal Viewpoint

‘Eat Right for Your Type’ by Peter J. D’Adamo has become widely known as the blood type diet. Since I am constantly asked to give my input on this dieting system, I have decided to add my comments here.

I agree with and respect quite a few of D’Adamo’s insights and perspectives but have major reservations about others. The book suggests that you use your blood type to determine which foods you should be eating. According to the theory, when you eat foods that ‘agree’ with your blood type, you reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, infections and liver disease. Type A people supposedly had ancestors that were farmers. If you are of this type, you should be a vegetarian and avoid meat and dairy products. According to the author, people with Type B blood had ancestors that were nomads; therefore they should eat red meat and fish. Those with Type O blood had ancestors that were hunters and gatherers; this means they should eat lots of animal protein and few carbohydrates. Finally, those with Type AB blood, had mixed ancestry, and are supposed to eat a combination of the Type A and B diet. Does this mean, for example, that all nomads used to have the blood type 0, and all farmers used to have type A blood? What about people who didn’t farm and who didn’t move from place to place?

Unfortunately, these theories are not supported by scientific literature, traditional knowledge and records of the world’s oldest medical systems, such as Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda. D’Adamo’s discoveries have not been confirmed anywhere else. There is little or no distinction made between individuals who have lived in the Andes, the tropical rain forests, or plains of Africa for hundreds of thousands of years. The Indian subcontinent thrived and flourished for thousands of years on a vegetarian diet, and so has most of the world’s population. And where does ancestry begin anyway? Two thousand years ago, 100 centuries ago, or 60 million years ago? How far do we go in the bloodline of our ancestors to determine our dietary needs? When the last Ice Age began, many vegetarians living in formerly tropical lands were suddenly forced to eat animals in order to survive. Some ate a mixed diet, because of more moderate climates. Others in the all-year-round tropical places of the Earth continued with vegetarian foods until quite recently. The proposed theory is highly inconclusive about all of these facts.

When I went on the high protein diet (very similar to the type O diet plan) at age 5, I felt great for about 18 months, as do so many others who go on the popular Atkins diet. Then I started developing stones in my liver, a dangerous arrhythmia and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, among other diseases. I had no idea that these ailments were due to protein poisoning. Ten years later I switched to a balanced vegan diet, and most of my illnesses went away within a matter of weeks. However, I still had to live with the many stones that had been produced in my liver and gallbladder as a result of what is known today as the O-type blood diet. Forty gallbladder attacks later, I did a series of liver and gallbladder flushes, which cleaned out these vital organs. Finally, I was free of any illness or discomfort.

You won’t notice the effects of a high protein diet until the blood vessel walls are well-thickened with excessive protein. Eating lots of animal protein triggers a powerful immune response in order to get rid of the foreign DNA and the dead, coagulated and damaged protein of meat, fish, eggs, poultry and dairy products. This immune response involves a powerful release of energy, thereby cleaning out impurities, improving skin functions and making you feel more grounded. However, as soon as the immune system is exhausted by the constant excessive activity, which took a mere 18 months in my case, the situation begins to backfire and the body becomes increasingly congested.

The blood type diet theory is flawed in the sense that it does not recognize the basic body type requirements generated by the three forces/humors of nature (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) that control the physicality of matter and the body of humans and animals. Only a fraction of the body’s energy requirements are met through food, and there are many more influences on the body than one’s blood type. The 6,000-year old medical system of Ayurveda accounts for most of these influences. One’s constitutional body type is not as simply and easily determined as one’s blood type. The theory of blood type foods is really based on guesswork, not on science or time-tested traditional knowledge as found in Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, Greek medicine or ancient Egyptian medicine.

If concentrated protein foods were a necessary part of the human diet, as the blood type diet advocates for the O-type, for example, why does nature not reflect that need when it formulates human milk in a mother’s breast? Its protein content is a mere trace amount of 1.1-1.6 percent, provided to a baby at the time of its biggest growth spurt. Wouldn’t O-type babies die if they lived on so little protein for up to 18 months, since most babies in the natural world only get mother’s milk as food? On the contrary, the babies actually develop perfect organs and systems, and are emotionally the most content. If nature’s most perfect food doesn’t give you much protein at the time when you are growing more rapidly than at any other time in your life, why would you need to eat concentrated proteins, such as meat, when you are older and no longer growing?

If you are on the blood type diet and decide to continue following it, I recommend that you be vigilant about how your body feels. If you start feeling a dull sensation in your gallbladder or pain in your joints, muscles or head, or if you develop mucus and sinus problems, a coated tongue or other signs of congestion, you may need to reconsider your dietary regimen.

A Balanced Body Can Achieve True Optimal Body Weight

The principles of good health can be related specifically to body weight. Remember, the two are inseparable. You cannot achieve your true optimal body weight if you are not healthy.

According to the ancient science of Ayurveda, every human being is a complex experience or interplay of three processes – mind, body and spirit. All these three together are an expression of your life force or dosha or Prana.

Your every waking and resting moment is therefore an expression of your dosha according to your body type and state of physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The human body is traditionally classified into three body types – ectomorph, mesomorph and endomorph. Ayurveda does not define body type according to musculature. Instead, each of the three body types is a combination of the five elements of the universe – air, fire, water, earth, and space. These body types are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each individual’s body type is unique to that individual.

We are all born with some of the characteristics of all three types, but in different proportions. It is therefore important to identify your body type to determine what is good for you and what works for your body.

Good health and happiness is a constant quest for equilibrium. This means that your mind, body and spirit must be in harmony with each other. With time, you will be able to tune in to each of these three aspects of being.

Modern lifestyles, especially in the Western world, have taken us so far from our natural state of good health that we accumulate too much baggage inside.

Stress, processed foods, pill-popping and over-stimulating ourselves have placed a burden on all our body, its organs and systems, and they end up clogged, congested polluted and toxic. The result is a body in distress, struggling in vain to find a sense of balance and equilibrium.

When you contrast this with conventional weight-loss procedures, you will notice that what is good for one person isn’t always good for everyone. That is why judging health by common yardsticks doesn’t work very well.

For instance, a particular food or even medical drug impacts differently on different people. One size does not fit all. Diet plans, exercise regimes and weight-loss programs are tailored to broad classifications. They rarely take into account individual differences.

Also, with their focus on losing weight rather than on health and well-being, they tend to ignore the basic principle – that restoring the body, mind and spirit to its natural equilibrium would result in weight loss and a state of vitality and happiness.

The Link Between Weight Gain And Diabetes

Approximately 16 million people in the United States are diagnosed with diabetes based on national statistics. In reality, through, this figure is much higher. It is estimated that another 5.4 million people have the disease and are not aware of it. Type II diabetes, also called adult onset diabetes, now appears routinely in six year old children. Minorities are at particular risk, as their diet consists mainly of cheap fast foods, such as hamburgers, fried chicken, pasta, potatoes, refined sweets and other highly processed foods and beverages.

These foods typically cause a rapid increase in blood sugar, which stimulates the production of large quantities of insulin. When there is too much insulin in the blood, the body reacts by producing the chemical somatostatin, which suppresses insulin release. In due time this natural response translates into diabetes. Compared with Caucasians, African Americans have a 60% higher risk of developing diabetes and Hispanics have a 90% increased risk. Considering the large number of undiagnosed diabetics, physicians are now losing more patients to diabetes than they are diagnosing.

An increasing number of American adults diagnosed with diabetes are obese, U.S. officials said in November 2004. A study by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention found that between 1999 and 2002, 54.8 percent of diabetics over the age of 19 were obese. That compared with 45.7 percent in the same age group between 1988 and 1994. When the category was expanded to include diabetics who were obese or overweight, the percentage surged to 85.2 percent in 1999-2002 compared with 78.5 percent in the earlier period. About 69 million people are obese or severely obese, according to the American Obesity Association.

In the CDC study, a person was considered overweight if their body mass index (BMI) – the most commonly used method for calculating if a person weighs too much – was 25 to 29. Anyone with a body mass index of 30 or greater was categorized as obese. Using the body mass index to determine risk for diabetes is not completely reliable and can keep these numbers lower than they actually are. Taking averages in human statistic analysis always ends up distorting the true figures.

A balanced Vata type, for example has a naturally lower weight than average. According to the body mass index, Vatas are underweight. Their bones are much lighter and they have very little body fat on them. If a Vata type adds 25 pounds of body weight, it can cause him serious health problems, but according to the body mass index, this extra weight would bring him up to the normal range. Kapha types, on the other hand, have a very heavy body structure already. They cannot afford to add even 25 pounds without causing them to develop a typical Kapha disorder, such as diabetes, heart disease, or cancer.

By removing the discrepancies that exist with currently used body mass calculations, it is likely that almost every diabetic is overweight or obese. Likewise, a person who is overweight or obese can actually be considered diabetic, or at least insulin resistant. Due to the accumulation of abnormal amounts of new cells in the overweight person, there is simply not enough insulin available to meet all the nutrient demands of these extra cells. And although the pancreas may still make a normal or a little extra amount of insulin, the added weight leads to a relative insulin shortage. Eventually, the pancreas suffers from being continuously over-extended. The side-effects of a relative insulin-deficiency can be just the same as an absolute insulin-deficiency where pancreatic cells stop producing insulin altogether.

According to the American Diabetes Association, diabetes accounts for 178,000 deaths (which may not be accurate), 54,000 amputees, and 12,000-24,000 cases of blindness annually. Blindness is 25 times more common among diabetic patients compared to non-diabetics. It is estimated that by the year 2010, diabetes will actually exceed both heart disease and cancer as the leading cause of death through its many complications. It is my hope that more and more scientists and doctors begin to see the strong link that exists between all these ‘diseases’. They are metabolic disorders that share a common cause, but show up as different symptoms.

General Guidelines About Diet and Daily Eating Habits According To Ayurveda

Since most doctors only know how to treat the effects of illness and not its causes, you may need to take your health into you own hands. Foods have an almost immediate effect on the body. In fact, it is known that the body’s biochemistry changes within several minutes of eating a meal.

If you eat something that is outright harmful to you, your stomach will signal indigestion. Some foods can be even more damaging than just causing heartburn. Research has shown that eating meat in the evening can trigger a heart attack in the morning.

Here are the common guidelines about a healthy diet and eating habits according to the principles of Ayurveda:

    • A half teaspoon of grated ginger taken with a pinch of salt is an excellent appetizer and kindles AGNI, the digestive fire. Splashing cool water over your face, neck, and hands before meals also stimulates AGNI.
    • Eat in a settled environment and quiet atmosphere, with a settled mind. Your company and environment should be pleasant. Do not work, listen to music, read or watch TV during meals.
    • Always sit down to eat. Eat at roughly the same times each day.
    • Eat neither too quickly nor too slowly (about 20 minutes) and without interruption.
    • Eat to about ¾ of your stomach capacity at your biggest meal; this equals the amount of your two cupped hands full. Ideally, one third of the meal should consist of liquid food of a soupy consistency.
    • Avoid eating a meal or snack before the previous meal has been digested, unless it is a piece of fruit. Allow approximately 3 to 6 hours between meals, depending upon the types of food consumed.
    • If you desire to drink anything with your meals, it is best to sip a little hot or warm water. Also avoid drinking large quantities of liquids right before and within the first 2 hours after meals.
    • Drinking excessive amounts of water (3-4 liters a day) may produce obesity, kidney disorders and mineral/vitamin deficiencies, whereas drinking too little water causes dehydration. To meet the minimum requirements for water, drink 6-8 glasses of water (at room temperature or warm) each day. You may need to increase the amount during hot, dry weather, when exercising or during stressful times in your life. If the color of your urine is dark yellow, drink more water; if colorless, drink less.
    • Consuming cold foods, such as ice cream, and drinking iced beverages may reduce your resistance to disease, impair AGNI and cause mucus congestion.
    • The diet should be balanced by including all six tastes – sweet, sour, salty, pungent (spices), bitter and astringent – in at least one meal per day. However, check the previous section concerning specific taste requirements and physiological needs or imbalances for your particular body type.
    • It is best not to heat or cook with honey; heat destroys it and makes it toxic.
    • Never eat just before going to bed. To avoid developing sleeping disorders, there should be at least three hours between eating and sleeping. If your bedtime is 10:00 p.m., eat no later than 6:00 p.m.
    • Chew your food thoroughly – the digestive process starts in the mouth.
    • Ayurveda does not favor the intake of too much raw food like raw vegetables, uncooked oat flakes, uncooked grains, etc. Fruits are an exception as they are already ‘cooked’ or ripened by the sun. The Pitta type is the only one among the body types who is able to digest more raw foods.
    • It is best not to eat when the mind is dominated by strong emotions such as anger, worry or sorrow. Wait until it has become more settled, since the digestive system does not work under stress.
    • Sleeping after meals causes sluggishness and increases Kapha and body weight. However, it is good to rest for about 10 minutes after meals and, if possible, to go for a 10 to 15 minute walk.
    • Food should always be delicious and pleasing to the senses and should be prepared by a happy cook.

The Milk Controversy – Is Cow’s Milk Good For Us?

Is Cow’s Milk Meant for Human Consumption?

Dairy milk has become a major target of criticism over the past few years due to its long lists of negative side effects. More and more health practitioners report that patients are allergic to dairy products or suffer from food intolerance to milk-containing foods. Eczema, asthma, migraine, constipation, hay fever, arthritis, stomach trouble, lymph edema, heart disease and testicular cancer are all linked with high consumption of dairy products.

One such case was Tim who had just turned 11 years old when his parents brought him to see me. He had developed asthma when he was five months old. The former treatment consisted of three different types of drugs, including cortisone and an inhaler. The boy’s condition worsened steadily and he developed herpes and other symptoms of high toxicity. Six months before his visit to me, Tim had caught a cold, which was treated with antibiotics. Since then his lungs showed strong signs of congestion. He complained about being tired all the time and unable to run or play with his friends. Kinesiology muscle testing revealed that Tim was highly allergic to milk or milk products. His parents confirmed that by the age of five months he was no longer breastfed but was instead given infant milk formula.

Tim’s asthma was caused by his body’s inability to break down the protein of cow’s milk. The fragments of undigested protein caused a strong immune response aggravating the entire mucus lining from the anus to the lungs. His condition was chronic because he consumed large quantities of animal protein, including milk and dairy products throughout his young life. After two weeks of abstinence from these foods, his asthma and herpes subsided and have never recurred since.

Could it be that cow’s milk is meant only for calves just as cat’s milk is meant only for kittens? Would we consider feeding our babies with, for example, dog’s milk instead of human breast milk? The ratio of nutrients contained in dog’s milk does not suit human requirements. Yet the same applies to cow’s milk. Cow’s milk contains three times as much protein, and almost four times as much calcium as human mother’s milk. These amounts are unsuitable for the human physiology at any age.

Cow’s milk is designed to contain the exact amount of calcium and protein necessary to feed a calf that will end up being at least 3-4 times larger than the human body is. If we gave human breast milk to a calf, it would not grow strong enough even to survive. By contrast, human babies require more carbohydrates in the beginning stages of their lives than calves do. For this reason, in comparison to human mother’s milk, cow’s milk contains only half the amount of carbohydrates. Calves on the other hand require much more salt than human babies do; naturally, salt content in cow’s milk is three times higher than in human milk. It is for a good reason that most of the original populations living in Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America don’t regard cow’s milk as a food fit for human consumption.

Once weaned, mammals no longer look for milk to satisfy their hunger or thirst. If human babies, who have been breastfed for 14-18 months, were given the option of choosing from various types of natural and suitable foods, two out of three would no longer want breast milk as a food, according to classic study. Babies who are fed with cow’s milk tend to look puffy, bloated and fat. It is not uncommon for 1-year olds to have gallstones in the liver as a result of drinking, and not digesting, cow’s milk. Many of them suffer from colic, gas, and bloating, which makes them cry and develop sleeping disorders. Other problems include tonsillitis, ear-infections, breathing difficulties, excessive mucus discharge and drooling from the mouth.

Michael Klaper, M.D., and author of Vegan Nutrition: Pure & Simple, summarized the milk controversy as follows: “The human body has no more need for cows’ milk than it does for dogs’ milk, horses’ milk, or giraffes’ milk.”

Milk-caused Osteoporosis

Since milk intolerance is becoming increasingly common among all age groups in the Western world, nutritionists and doctors are starting to suspect that cow’s milk may not be such a natural food for humans after all.

Milk is a highly mucus-forming food that can cause irritation and congestion throughout the gastrointestinal tract. If regularly consumed, milk can leave an increasingly hardening and almost impermeable coating on the inside of the intestinal membranes. This restricts absorption of nutrients, including the calcium, magnesium and zinc needed to form bones. It is virtually impossible to successfully treat people with natural medicines as long as they continue to clog up their digestive systems with milk or dairy foods; the medicines are not able to penetrate the hardened layer of mucus in the intestines.

Most people wouldn’t drink milk if they weren’t so influenced by the myth that milk is essential for the bones. If you are prone to osteoporosis, or osteoarthritis, then consider the following facts:

    • Cow’s milk may be very rich in calcium but its high calcium to magnesium ratio can make it difficult to absorb. In certain people or body types, the calcium may be deposited in places where it is not required, hence, the development of calcification of bones and other parts of the body.
    • Most of the calcium contained in cow’s milk is bound by the milk chemical casein, which makes it far too crude for proper absorption by the human intestinal membranes. Cow’s milk contains 300 times more casein than human milk. You can get more absorbable calcium out of 6-8 almonds or a teaspoon of molasses than you can get from one liter of cow’s milk.
    • There is quantitatively more phosphorus in cow’s milk than there is calcium. To metabolize that much phosphorus, the body requires extra amounts of calcium, which it extracts from the bones, teeth and muscles. This leads to calcium deficiency in these parts of the body. To compensate the sudden loss of calcium, the body tries to mobilize more of it. As mentioned before, the body has several methods to manufacture the much-needed mineral. If the body depended totally on external supplies of calcium, 80 percent of today’s population would have lost at least one third of their bone mass by the age of 30. Because of this self-regulating mechanism, we are able to survive even extremely poor diets with very little calcium intake. We can even fast on distilled water for several weeks without developing a calcium deficiency (distilled water removes calcium from the body). Yet if the consumption of dairy foods continues for a long time, the calcium reserves get depleted faster than they can be replenished, leading to damage of the bone tissue.
    • Milk proteins contain about three times the amount of sulphur-containing amino acids than proteins from vegetable origin. Regular consumption of milk and dairy products would turn the blood acidic and kill it if the body didn’t mobilize large amounts of minerals to save itself from acid death. Yet, in the long term, this emergency measure leads to demineralization of the tissues and organs, and subsequent acidosis.
    • Storage of excessive amounts of milk protein in the connective tissues and basal membranes of the capillaries reduces the diffusion of essential minerals and vitamins to the tissues of the body. This causes a depletion of nutrients in the tissues, especially of those that form the bones and joints.

Cows maintain strong and hardy bones and teeth throughout their lives and get most of their calcium from the greens they eat. Gorillas, elephants and other strong animals also don’t suffer from osteoporosis. Occasionally they lick on limestone, but this is certainly not enough to supply the large quantities of calcium they require to build and rebuild their heavy skeletons. If milk were the most useful and important source of calcium for grown animals then nature would certainly have designed ways of supplying them with milk throughout their lives. But as it turns out, they have access to milk only at the beginning stages of their lives.

The human body requires large amounts of bile to digest whole milk. Drinking whole milk regularly can eventually exhaust the liver’s bile-producing capacity. Drinking low fat milk makes matters worse. Low fat milk requires less bile to digest the fat contained in the milk, yet milk protein cannot be digested without the naturally high concentrations of milk fat. Added to that, without sufficient bile, calcium cannot be properly digested or absorbed either. The large amounts of undigested milk protein increase acidity in the body and the unused crude milk calcium can cause calcification of joints, arteries and kidneys. This can make protein foods with lowered fat-content hazardous to health.

Leafy green vegetables contain four times more calcium than whole milk. There is also plenty of calcium in almonds, black molasses, sesame seeds, broccoli, Brazil nuts, millet, oats and citrus fruits. The calcium contained in these foods is readily absorbed by the human digestive system, provided the digestive system functions efficiently. Osteoporosis and osteoarthritis are basically metabolic disorders that are caused by severe congestion and an unbalanced diet/lifestyle, and almost never by insufficient calcium intake. Osteoporosis is virtually unknown in such places as Africa where people eat far fewer proteins than those living in developed countries.

Milk Consumption Linked to Diabetes and Allergies

Initial studies on diabetes revealed that the frequency of insulin dependent diabetes is linked to breast-feeding. The longer children were breastfed by their mothers, the less was their risk of developing diabetes later in life. The interpretation of this finding was revised, however, after it was found that children who are fed with cow’s milk formula rather than with mother’s milk were the most likely candidates for diabetes. More precise studies revealed that diabetics have a striking number of antibodies against a particular protein in their blood.

Diabetes is considered an ‘autoimmune disease’ which means that the body supposedly directs its defenses against itself. The particular protein that the body tries to combat here comes from the whey of cow’s milk. If the milk protein becomes lodged in the body’s connective tissues, it is only natural for the body’s immune cells (white cells) to attack and remove it. The fact that this response by the immune system inflames the cells surrounding these tissues (which is essential for healing) should not be misconstrued to be an autoimmune disease.

Ever since cow’s milk has been used to make cheese, whey, which is a waste product of cheese production, has been fed to pigs. This practice continued even after scientists attributed great nutritional value to whey. Since nobody really liked drinking this ‘precious’ ingredient of milk it was mixed in with foods. This ‘coincided’ with a dramatic increase in allergies in the developed world. Scientists have discovered that the beta-casein (a particular protein) in cow’s milk can trigger an immune response that may, in turn, cross-react with an antigen to cause an allergic reaction. An allergy is the body’s response to fight a substance that it considers dangerous to its health and survival.

Today, millions of people in the Western Hemisphere are suffering from allergies caused by milk or products that contain milk powder or whey. Perhaps this is the reason most populations in the world avoid drinking cow’s milk. The current ‘allergy epidemic’ in developed countries may have well been caused by the ‘miracle food’ whey which is added to so many food products, including children’s foods, fresh cheese, ready-made soups, diet foods, etc. We are practically infested by this milk protein unless we live off purely natural foods.

Watch out for the Milk Hormone

Bovine somatotrophin (BST) is a hormone which, when fed to cows, can increase their milk yield by 20-30 percent. In the United States, BST was licensed by the American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1994. This effectively gave farmers the legal permission to treat their herds with the controversial hormone. The license was accompanied with a new labeling policy, previously unheard of in the United States. Traditional dairy farmers are prohibited from labeling their milk as ‘hormone free’ – while those using the hormone are not required to say that they use BST. Because uncontrolled hormone intake is linked to a number of serious health problems, there has been great concern among farmers who use BST that people would prefer the natural milk to the hormone treated one. Their pressure ensured the above legislation.

The granting of a license to increase milk production through hormones comes at a time when milk production is already much higher than is milk consumption. Most industrialized nations destroy enormous quantities of milk and butter to manipulate the prices with no regard to the cows’ health. Cows are naturally made to produce a certain amount of milk according to the demand from their offspring. The hormone-induced artificial increase of milk yield causes a number of cow’s diseases that are met by administering large quantities of antibiotics. The drug’s poisons seep into the milk and its products. How much a cow must be suffering when its udder is being extended to beyond it natural capacity is not even considered an issue.

Is Milk Bad for Everyone?

Cow’s milk is the food used to raise cows. Drinking the milk from another species is less than ideal. Under normal circumstances, you will not find young animals going around and begging other animals to give them some of their milk. Any adverse reactions to partaking of the milk of another species are to be expected. However, if milk causes allergies or other diseases why doesn’t everyone who regularly consumes cow’s milk suffer from the same problems? One reason may be that they don’t remove the fat from the milk. Left unaltered, cow’s milk is completely balanced regarding its natural ingredients. By removing one essential part of the milk, that is, fat, the milk protein can no longer be digested completely, hence there will be a ‘leftover’ of undigested and irritating proteins that the body’s immune system begins to combat and get rid of.

In my practice I have found that persons who are of Vata constitution seem to digest and metabolize milk much better than Kapha types, provided it is fresh, whole fat, and boiled before consumption (Pasteurizing of milk differs from boiling it in that is uses an extremely high temperature, namely, 285 degrees F (141 degrees C). Vata types often suffer from dryness, lightness and coldness. The mucus-producing effect of milk may help lubricate their intestinal lining, which has the tendency to be dry. The milk’s heavy and warming qualities may pacify Vata and thereby outweigh some negative effects that milk may have for other body types. Healthy Vata types and, to a certain extent, healthy Pitta types seem to produce more of the specific digestive enzymes, which are used to break down milk proteins, than Kapha types.

In Kapha types, milk protein remains undigested and can trigger allergic reactions with intense mucus irritation and sinus congestion. The Kapha’s blood vessel walls tend to clog up quickly with excessive proteins as a result of overeating dairy foods or meat. This may explain why this particular body type is more prone to obesity and congestive heart failure than the Vata type.

Once milk is pasteurized, i.e. ultra heat-treated, its natural enzyme population is destroyed. Yet the enzymes are needed to make the milk nutrients available to the body cells. Newly born calves die within six months when fed with pasteurized cow’s milk. One can only imagine the turmoil that must be going on in the tiny intestinal tract of a baby who is fed with pasteurized milk or sterilized milk formula. As mentioned before, such babies usually develop colic, become bloated and chubby, discharge mucus, catch colds frequently, are restless, and cry a lot. The best advice is to breastfeed as long as is possible, avoid dairy-based formulas altogether, use alternatives such as coconut milk (the closest to human milk) as well as some almond milk, hemp milk or rice milk; and give freshly mashed fruits, vegetables and rice when the baby is ready to eat solids.

Boiling fresh, non-pasteurized milk before consumption seems to have a beneficial effect. Milk protein begins to break down into amino acids during boiling, which makes it easier to digest and absorb. This may be one of the reasons why Indians always boil their milk before use. They also know that milk has adverse effects when its fat is removed. For some reason, milk protein, unlike egg or meat protein doesn’t coagulate when heated. In addition, many of the milk’s enzymes survive. To preserve milk and to kill any existing germs Indians simply put a silver coin or a silver spoon in the milk. Silver is strongly anti-bacterial. And to avoid mucus congestion, they put 2-3 pinches of either turmeric or dry ginger into the milk before boiling it. Whereas boiling the milk helps to reduce some its irritating effect in Vata and Pitta types, pasteurizing it upsets all the threedoshas. Kapha types don’t do well with milk at all; they develop mucus congestion almost right away.

Cold milk is very difficult to digest. As the cold milk touches the warm stomach lining, the nerve endings of the stomach become “numb” or insensitive, and its cells tighten or shrink. This inhibits the secretion of gastric juices, which is required to digest milk protein. The cold condition of the milk may even be responsible for leaving those proteins undigested that are known to cause allergic reactions. Enzymes require a specific temperature to be able act on the food; if the temperature is too low the proteins will not be broken down properly, hence the intense irritation of the mucus lining. Vata types who are very sensitive to cold are rarely attracted to taking milk in cold form (from the refrigerator). Pittas often have an excessively high temperature in their stomach, which gets lowered only slightly by cold milk. Consequently Pittas are still able to secret a good amount of gastric juices to digest some of the milk proteins. But if they take milk cold on a regular basis, their AGNI or digestive power also begins to be affected.

If you have access to fresh, full-fat, and non-pasteurized milk and if you are a Vata or Pitta type with no Kapha imbalance (signs of excessive mucus in chest, nose or sinuses), you may use milk in moderation by applying the above procedures of preparation. If milk still causes you mucus, then it is simply a ‘no-food’ for you. I personally have not yet met a person who hasn’t shown signs of congestion and irritation as a result of milk consumption, especially in the United States. In all the U.S. with the exception of California, Washington and Georgia, it is illegal to sell whole, raw milk, despite the fact that raw milk contains far less potentially harmful bacteria than pasteurized, homogenized milk. Pasteurized, homogenized milk does not qualify as food per se. The homogenization process breaks up an enzyme (xanthine oxidase), which in its altered (smaller) state can enter the bloodstream and react against arterial walls, causing the body to protect the area with a layer of cholesterol.

The demand for raw, non-pasteurized milk is booming. According to Sally Fallon, president for the Weston A. Price Foundation, the number of raw milk drinkers is now at about half a million people across the United States – many of them willingly breaking the law, purchasing their milk from ‘underground black markets’ and other creative setups. Raw milk comes with its own risks. Even if the cows grow up on organic farms, their milk bladders are constantly filled and extended, day after day, month after month, year after year. A continuous process of milk production (lactation) is unnatural for any animal. The resulting repeated injuries of the bladder wall leads to infections and inflammation, and a lot of dead cells (pus). Millions of units of pus are found in every quart of milk, especially in older cows. It is irrelevant whether the milk is raw or pasteurized; the dead cells remain in the milk. However, since bacteria are attracted to dead cells, and raw milk is not pasteurized, the latter is more susceptible to bacterial contamination.

In July 2007, the U.S. Department of Agriculture tested raw milk from 861 farms in 21 states. According to their report, nearly a quarter of the samples contained illness-causing bacteria, including five percent with listeria, three percent with salmonella, and four percent with less dangerous types of E. coli. Regardless of the real figures of contamination, either type of milk comes with its own risks. Again, if you are not sure about milk’s health benefits for you, apply the muscle test and your body may give you some good clues about it. Or take a look at your tongue in the morning after consuming milk or cheese the day before. If it is coated white, you should avoid them. A white coating on the tongue indicates mucus aggravation in the gut, which in turn reflects turmoil in the digestive system.

In my own case, eating lots of raw whole milk and cheese led to years of painful juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, constipation, lymphatic congestion, heart disease, anemia and a lot of gallstones in the liver and gallbladder. Soon after I quit eating foods derived from animals, my health returned to normal.

Eat Unrefined Sea Salt

For salt to be useful to the body, it needs to penetrate foods-that is, the moisture of the fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes must be allowed to dissolve the salt. If salt is used in its dry state, it enters the body in a non-ionized form and creates thirst (a sign of being poisoned). It causes further harm because it is not being properly assimilated and utilized.

You may dissolve a pinch of salt in a small amount of water and add that to fruit or other foods that are not usually cooked. This will aid in the digestion of those items while helping to de-acidify the body. Patrick Timpone: yeah. You were just telling me you all had a big hail storm in north Carolina, south Carolina.

Andreas Moritz: yes it cooled us right down but it is going to be up eighty, ninety five again today

Patrick Timpone: so you had hail storm at the night and ninety five today!

Andreas Moritz: Yes.

Patrick Timpone: Yeah, that is crazy. What nationality are you?

Andreas Moritz: I was born in Germany, but I lived all over the world so I basically lived a bit of everything.

Patrick Timpone: yeah. yeah. Well as you well know that German culture is very keen on details and very, lets see, work ethic, they have a great work ethic

Andreas Moritz: Oh they do.

Patrick Timpone: Do they?

Andreas Moritz: Yes

Patrick Timpone: So is that where you get this? I mean you write a lot don’t you!?

Andreas Moritz: I try to. There is so much to do everyday and I do work seven hours a week and twelve hours a day but I still write and I have written thirteen books now.

Patrick Timpone: thirteen books!

Andreas Moritz: hmm hmmm

Patrick Timpone: so you spend a lot of your time doing consultations with folks around the world right?

Andreas Moritz: I have cut back on that

Patrick Timpone: have you

Andreas Moritz: Yes I try to focus on writing.

Patrick Timpone: ah ha- ah ha. So I want to start with cancer do Andreas Moritz tells do we get to and create cancer cells ongoing in our body? I have heard that. Is it true?

Andreas Moritz: oh yes.

Patrick Timpone: do we?

Andreas Moritz: it is just like in any factory setting when you produce a product, you will have some of them, even though the machinery is perfect, it will still produce faulty products. And like that in our body when we turn over thirty billion cells per day one percent of these cells will undergo genetic changes that are akin to cancer cells. So we have to produce cancer cells each day in order to keep our immune system alert and make sure that our ability to deal with cancer cells is up to date. It is never sort of the body is not becoming lazy and forgetting how to deal with cancer cells

Patrick Timpone:  so we are producing cancer cells just because it was the way it was designed and helps the immune system stay on its toes. So that is separate from the cells that may mutate into abnormal cells with chemicals and things like that.

Andreas Moritz: that is correct

Patrick Timpone: so in a perfect we would still create cancer cells.

Andreas Moritz: we do and cancer cells cluster together eventually if there is an external threat of some kind or when we are exposed as you said to chemicals which are known as carcinogens or to radiation that comes from medical instruments or you just the general air pollution or water pollution, fluoride in the drinking water and other environment toxins, foods additives, so there are many things that are can have a carcinogenic effect that means the changes or these things change the environment of the cells and so once the environment of the cells change, then in order for the cell to cope with that very stressful condition it will have to adjust itself to those circumstances and in order to that it has to mutate. That means the generic material has to undergo changes in order to live with those threatening situations and the body does that very eloquently. I am amazed about how wise these genes are. They can mutate in fifteen thousand different ways that means if there is a change in the environment that is, that could potentially threaten the life of the person then, these genes will undergo the genetic mutation necessary to deal with that. Unfortunately we call that a disease. In reality it is a protective mechanism, a survival mechanism.

Patrick Timpone: is it doing the same thing for radiation for example in the air from Japan?

Andreas Moritz: it does start with radiation, yeah well, the Japanese radiation is actually quite low compared to the radiation that you get from a chest x-ray or if you have a mammogram then that is like two thousand  x-rays, if you have a cat scan or a whole body scan then you have like fifty thousand chest x-rays. So the radiation that comes in form these devices or you go through the airport security and you go through one of the full body scanners, according to new research by professions done at five universities, you get fifty times higher exposure to radiation than was initially told to us and so basically you get so much ionizing radiation coming into your system or non ionizing radiation which also can lead to genetic mutations in the cells. So yes, radiation is definitely one of those and the body can deal with it. So when a person develops the cancer it does not mean that there is something wrong, it is just the body is trying to right something, trying to correct something and that is why if we treat cancer as if it were a disease then we are in real trouble because then we are putting our own fear and the anxiety which can dampen or suppress any kind of appropriate healing response in the body to deal with this situation.

Patrick Timpone: so that is why it is said often in the last few years, Andreas Moritz, that this early detection, that the mainstream media is so keen on, all the mammograms and detect and early could be more of a problem because perhaps they just do not understand what you just said?

Andreas Moritz: that is correct but they do understand and there is a lots scientific research that actually confirms what you just said. So it is no longer just hearsay or some people thinking about it and putting it into articles but this has been studied very carefully. So, yes, early detection is not an advantage. In fact with the early detection methods you are introducing more sophisticated mammograms for example for breast cancer has lead to an huge number of cancer detected that are not really cancers at all. That just like little benign growth that many women have and live a perfectly, comfortably, for the rest of their lives without ever every having any malignancy develop there and yet they are being treated as if they had a cancer there and then they have biopsies which can them cause so much damage to our particular cell groups that are very delicate and sensitive in their structures that they actually undergo cellular mutation which them can lead to real cancers. So nowadays a lot of controversy in this field. Many-many doctors and scientists,  based on scientific research, they do not do mammograms, they do not do this early detection, because they also found according to top cancer researchers that cancer does not behave in a straight line like from A to B. Once you have cancer then it is going to definitely develop into a tumor that can endanger life and in reality that is not true. In fact so many cancers disappear on their own and I have written and about it in my book “CANCER IS NOT A DISEASE” that up to ninety five percent of all cancers actually vanish on their own and there is studies done on autopsies of people who died for all kinds of reason. They were never diagnosed with cancer, but, they died from accidents or poisonings or whatever and they were found to have on an average about forty, forty-five percent of them had tumors, cancerous tumors in their body that never ever bothered them. So if you do not know about the cancer you have actually a better chance surviving that than if you know about it. So diagnosis can be very-very tricky thing because once you have a diagnosis and you go home with that diagnosis which typically means oh my god my life is being threatened you undergo a severe stressful condition or experience which causes death fright and death fright triggers the fight or flight response, that means, you produce adrenaline almost like non stop day and night, you produce cortisol which suppresses the immune system the adrenaline and cortisol constrict the blood vessel to your digestive system that means you do not digest your food anymore. You do not absorb nutrients your body is going into wasting phase where the body is losing strength and vitality and the immune system can no longer deal with it unless you have proper nutrition that means nourishment of the cells including the white blood cells and the B-cells and so on the killer cells so you are literally paralyze your entire system when you go home with that diagnosis. You cannot sleep any more because the brain is trying to keep you awake in order to find a solution to this problem, so the diagnosis therefore can lead to havoc in the body completely upsetting all the hormonal systems because once you produce the adrenaline for prolonged periods of time you also cause adrenal damage you enter exhaustion. There is no energy for anything and as I said there are many studies to show that if you have a diagnosis and you deal with it like this, then you do not die from the cancer, the cancer does not really have in it that can kill someone but you die from the death fright that you experience and if a person is being told that I have cancer then they should be given a solution to, it not just killing the cancer, but actually empowering the person making the person feel that oh the body is actually healing itself because cancer should be recognized for what it really is. It is a response to an underlined condition to the causes of cancer that the body is trying to rectify and it is doing that very eloquently. It even builds, the body builds blood vessel to support these cancer cells if the body and the body is not wasting resources or energy it does that because it knows that these cancer cells are doing something good that the body itself cannot do anymore because we have somehow interfered with that we have eaten foods that are congestive, that cause gastro intestinal problems, that lead to toxicity, the bile ducts in the liver are clogged up that the body can no longer purify, detoxify the blood. So cancer cells by their very design can take up toxins. They even harbor bacteria and viruses and fungi inside these cells. Next to a cancer cells you will find at least twice as many white blood cells, white cells, which cluster together along with these cancer cells. So sixty percent or more of any tumor consists of the immune cells. So why would the body do that if the immune are suppose to destroy these cancer cells. It does that normally with the daily occurring cancer cells that are one percent cancer cells that you create simply through turnover cells but the other kind of cells the cancer cells that we saw to as tumors or blood cancers, these cells are not targeted by the immune system. The immune system is actually protecting them and that should be a red flag for us. Why would the body do that.

So why do these cells then why does the body form it into a tumor sometimes in the breast. What is the body trying to do here?

Andreas Moritz: well it is actually complex if you see you can never just say that the body is independent of your emotions and feelings and so on. What I found and actually there is quite a bit of research now even the CDC, the center for disease control and prevention, have admitted that emotional stress, emotional distress which can be for many reason like a divorce, separation from a loved one, children are being alienated so there are many – many conflict relations which can translate into very powerful biochemical changes through the brain, we know we produce neuropeptides for every thoughts feelings and emotions we have. And these neuropeptides are very-very powerful. They can suppress the production of interleukin into serous which are anti cancer and antiviral drugs the body produces or they can suppress the immune system. They can enhance the immune system depending on what kind of thoughts you have so if you are distressed over a period of time the body will be forced into protective mechanisms such as if you for example have to fight something, you are in a court battle and the court battle lasts for three four year, what is happening is that you translate that as a sort of a threat on your survival and so biological programs will begin to manifest which will express themselves as producing extra cells so because you are no longer capable of using what you have, that means for example aveolie cells in the lungs to give you the extra oxygen that you need in order to cope with that stressful situation knowing very well that you are under threat, that you are producing the flight or flight response so that means you are producing extra cells in the lungs to take up extra oxygen that these muscle cells and other cells need in order to get through the stressful experience so now if you produce those enough you will find that you have extra groups of cells that seems to be abnormal, that do not belong there. Now if you get a diagnosis and then they say well you have a mass there, a small mass, in your lungs we need to work on this we need to give you chemo therapy or radiation whatever so you go home and you now produce the side effects of the diagnosis which I talked about before. Now if you allowed this process to continue and you are lets say you win the court battle or the divorce is over and you become friendly with your ex spouse and again and so it becomes sort of a non event after a while then the body will start attacking those extra cells, it will break them down, it will have to do that thorough a series of events that will include infection eventually, so inside the tumor, that is why the immune cells will cluster to the tumor cells, it will not kill them, it will allow them, they almost protected them and there is a protein exchange that immune cells produce and that goes actually on to surface of the cancer cells so nobody can harm these cancer cells because they are very important at this stage these cancer cells will harbor viruses and bacteria particularly TB bacteria and so the body always has TB bacteria somewhere, we have to have them, they were given to us when we were breast fed by the mother so she passes the TB bacteria on to us so this bacteria and the Candida bacteria as well will begin to accumulate in the tumor mass and it will make the tumor mass grow very rapidly at that stage and then usually doctors freak out they say oh my god the tumor is growing so aggressively, they call it aggressive tumor growth, but in reality it is building up on a lot of lymph fluid and these bacteria until they have reached this saturation point where then they can be a massive infection and when the infection occurs and your breathing is very shallow, you feel you have fever temperature, you get actually massive fever so the infection will then break down the tumor mass provided you do not take fever reducing medication or antibiotics, if you take antibiotics and you reduce the fever, what you are actually doing, you are not allowing the completion of the healing to take place. There are now one hundred and fifty one studies to show that when a person is not allowed to have an infection, your risk of cancer goes up significantly. In fact when you look at childhood illnesses, these studies have shown that if children are allowed to grow through the measles, chicken pox and all those other mumps and other diseases which are meant to strengthen and build up the immunity of the child, if you are not allowing that to happen, these lacking infections during childhood would significantly increased your risk of getting cancer later in life and now one part of every two people will develop cancer in this country, which is more than any other country in the world, so we are through the vaccination programs which is about three time this much as a child lets say in Finland or Iceland you get we have such higher much higher rates of cancer in this country and we should think about why that is. And the new research actually confirms this has a lot to do with not allowing ourselves to have infection. Going back to the lung infection, if the lung infection is allowed which is being stopped medical intervention if we allow that then the tumor will breakdown within twenty four to thirty six hours.

Patrick Timpone: it will break down?

Andreas Moritz: oh it will completely disappear

Patrick Timpone: my god!

Andreas Moritz: and it will come out in liquid from through the urine. So the person would go to the toilet about twenty thirty times a day and will pee protein, literally, so when the doctor instead of saying oh my god the person is peeing protein must be some cancer in the body, it is the other way down it is the body breaking down the cancer

Patrick Timpone: my goodness!

Andreas Moritz: so if we learn to listen to the body let the body do its works instead of interfering you will have a chance to heal the cancer naturally we would not have to have all those cases of complications where five hundred eighty thousand people die each year from cancer

Patrick Timpone: and it is the same paradigm Andreas Moritz in the breasts as well that you just  described with the lung tumor ?

Andreas Moritz: yes

Patrick Timpone: it is the same

Andreas Moritz: well it depends on the kind of emotions that a person has so when you look at someone who has breast cancer, you can trace it back to something that either happened during childhood or an ongoing conflict with a mother or a child, a separation form someone that that person loves, someone who died and you could not cope with that like a mother if a woman was very close to her mother and the mother died then that can lead to this separation conflict which can trigger through the body mind body connection but suppressing certain hormones in the body or excessively producing estrogens so it can lead to estrogen , estrogenic breast cancer. Genes really do not have anything to do with that genes are blamed on this a lot but these genes as a new research shows they do not just out of their own just want to create cancer because genetic mutation alone according to the new research, cancer research, cannot produce cancer. Genetic mutation alone cannot produce cancer. There need to be at least one or two or three more co factors and these co factors are diet, lifestyle, eating habits, emotional stage all kinds of things that change the environment of the cell. And so, cellular changes, internal changes, like nuclear changes where the genes mutate the self mutation or gene mutation needs to be coordinated with other changes in the cell environment before it can develop because cancer cells cannot grow unless you grow new blood vessels and to grow new blood vessels has nothing to do with the genetic mutation inside the cells so you may have tons of genetic mutation and nothing every will happen to you unless you actually support that the body is actually supporting the cell mutation and then you develop a cancer tumor.

Patrick Timpone: when a lady having a breast cancer tumor diagnosed and they say well it is malignant or benign, what is the difference and what is the allopathic conventional medicine people are seeing and does it make a difference to the people who is looking at it from a natural perspective?

Andreas Moritz: well one is suppose to go aggressively

Patrick Timpone: right

Andreas Moritz: and but there is nothing in a cancer cell that has a weapon in it. So it is not that a cancer can kill someone. There is no poison in it. Not that the body is suddenly causing its own death because it has a couple of cancer cells, what it does, is that cancer cells have a better appetite than regular cells that means they gobble up a lot of glucose and so they can gobble up fifteen times the amount of glucose that a normal cell consumes or is capable of consuming that means the surrounding tissues can go into a wasting syndrome but the reason why the body is allowing that is because cancer cells, given there circumstance of what the person is going through, are actually more beneficial so temporarily these cancer cells they can take up poisons, toxins carcinogens, they can encapsulate themselves eventually and they can become inactive if we allowed it to happen. But normally the body will undergo a massive infection if we allowed it. And it would dispose off the tumor. So the more aggressive the tumor is that means the body is really working on this. Cancer is a healing mechanism, it is not a, it shows that the body is undergoing a healing already. Before the cancer is diagnosed, lets say in the breast, for example you may have like two billion cancer cells , there is no way that you can detect those two billion cancer cells, it is too small, but once it is reaching like four billion cancer cells or suddenly you are able to, the mammogram will find it all oh! there is a speck of cancer here! So we got it and the earlier we get it the better it is that is not entirely true. If they give you something to reduce it that means they give you chemo therapy or radiate it and then say oh! We got all the cancer because we can no longer see it. But it just back to the two billion level. It has not been completely eradicated. So it does not really medicine make a difference, it is just that for the time being it looks as if you have cut off the tip of the ice berg. You do not see the ice berg any more and you think that it is gone. But there is a whole mountain underneath

Patrick Timpone: my god!

Andreas Moritz: so that is why when you do these radical treatments you do not do anything to prolonged the persons life. According to the latest research statistics there is no advantage of from chemo therapy and radiation which have a 2.3 percent success rate in treating some rare cancers that but  breast cancer is not among them

Patrick Timpone: this maybe totally new information to you if it is you just sit tight and you are going to have a lot of it this morning with Andreas Moritz. He is in north Carolina. Andreas thanks for spending some time with us this morning. I want to talk a bit about this connection with infections and cancerous cells. I do not quite understand it. We have been told by many people over the last few years that there is definitely a connection they seems to be accurate with for example maybe root canals and breast cancer and such because of these toxins or maybe the decapitations and gum disease, if that is true and it seems that it is research certainly seems that it is with Dr. Hal Huggins and Dr. Dawei and Dr. Steven Hines that we have talked to and other people. Is the body trying to deal with these infections or these toxins that are put out by these infections like with a root canal, is that is what is making more cancerous cells or what is going on?

Andreas Moritz: there is a difference between chronic infection and acute infection and so the hundred and fifty studies that I mentioned that were incidentally done since 1860 so and up to 2008 and so these studies show that when you have an acute infection that is like a mumps infection.

Patrick Timpone: yeah something that comes quickly and does not stay.

Andreas Moritz: right and particularly during childhood which seems to be very important but they also found that acute infection lets say you get a bacterial infection or a viral infection like the flu and influenza and it goes up and disappears after a couple of days. These are extremely beneficial many people have chicken pox, adult people get chicken pox and have cancer, they found that the cancer disappeared after the infection

Patrick Timpone: because the immune system just got in there and did something.

Andreas Moritz: right basically the body cleans out, the flu is only necessary if the body is toxic, otherwise you would not get flu or viral infection, so the body uses bacteria, viruses and fungi when there is something in the body that it cannot get rid of itself for example damaged cells, if you have a root canal and you had a damaged nerve cell. The nerve just killed , if you have anything that is dead, like in a root canal, then it will attract automatically certain bugs, certain bacteria in order to decompose that because the body does not want to have anything dead in it or damaged. So damaged cells will attract bacteria, fungi go after dead cells, that is why people have foot fungus. There are a lot of dead cells the circulation is very poor to their legs and to their toes and so then they attract fungus that will then decompose off or digest at least some of these dead cells. So whenever there is some good reason for these microorganism to come into the body and that causes an infection if the body keeps producing the same problem again and again that means the congestion is not elevated, liver is not cleaned out, the blood is still unclean, the body keeps something toxins into the connective tissues of organs and system so after a while you will develop a chronic infection. When you have a chronic infection somewhere whether it in a tooth or somewhere else then the cells in that area will become they have to undergo the cellular, the genetic mutation and become cancer cells. Imagine when there is a traffic jam and the cars are not moving it becomes so congested that the supply routes are interrupted so it can disturb an entire city. I remember living in Europe, sometimes the French truck drivers they would block the highways, they would just could be on strike and then no car could go from anywhere it just could not move anywhere so they supermarkets were emptied, the grocery stores, there were no supplies anymore so this could paralyze the entire country like that if there are major parts of the body congested like that the large intestine if you have constipation all the time or if you have lymph drainage problems the lymphatic system does not work and the metabolic waste products and the dead cells that you produce that you try to turnover each day so get rid of each day and they start clogging up the path ways and so the body becomes so congested that not even oxygen reaches a group of cells and that means these cells have to undergo genetic mutation, they have to adjust in order to live off lactic acid for example which is a metabolic waste product that is trapped in these tissues so now these now called cancer cells doing at least maintaining some of the functions of the organs but not in the best way and so unfortunately we vilify them, we should praise them and say thank you for at least helping me though this phase and maybe by cleansing my body I would be able to reverse this and then these cells can once again get oxygen, they will either die of or they would revert back to normal cells because we now know that genes can change in fifteen thousand different ways, so if you change the environment, they will have to change, the genes will have to change because they do not do anything, they are just a blueprint and a blueprint can be rewritten and we rewrite it all the time though our feeling emotions, what we eat, what we expose ourselves to environment toxins or fresh air and good clean water. So all of that makes a huge difference. Vitamin D, if a person goes out in the sun on a regular basis without sunscreens and sunglasses you will produce a lot of vitamin D and vitamin D is now known to prevent cancers why does it do that? Because the vitamin D controls more than three or four thousand different genes, very important because  that are responsible for keeping the immune system strong, keeping the body cleans by allowing the digestive system to function well , for the cardiovascular system to function optimally for the liver to work properly so all of that depends on vitamin D. and a person who is not getting enough vitamin D will have a problem with these part of the body. So they become suffocated and then you then complain some cells in those organs will they are under going genetic mutation and these genetic mutations supposedly them causes cancer but it is not entirely true anymore.

Patrick Timpone: Andreas Moritz in the case of the mouth we can see how we could possibly have this chronic infection that the do not know about decapitation or root canals or where else in the body does do chronic infections go on that we do not know about and how would we know? I mean the mouth is kind of it is a little bit easier if you understand what you are looking for. But how do we know if we had chronic infection somewhere else? Where does it happen?

Andreas Moritz: well, it happens again when there is a need for it. That means, when for example an apple falls from the tree, it is overripe, it is been hanging on the tree for too long and then it will drop and then will get bruised and so that’s the area where the bacteria will start coming in and suddenly you find the whole apple is being digested by these bacteria it is called decomposition, and then there will be a film like a fluffy thing around the whole apple which is the fungus which goes after the dead apple cells so basically this is what happens inside the body when we have areas that are congested cut off form proper oxygen supply and so these parts of the body need to be infected, if is happening in the tooth the bacteria that decompose parts of these cells or these dead nerve cells or other cells that have been damaged there, then, they produce micro toxins. Micro toxins are a very-very powerful, they get everywhere so when they circulate through the body then they can cause irritation and inflammatory responses so when you have an infection you will know that something is not quite right in the body, I do not get my energy is low, I may become irritable, I become very emotional, become depressed or something, you know that there is an underlines something somewhere that does not allow me to feel good and when you do not feel good that means you have an underlined, even if a little bit of infection. Many people do not realism that the liver for example doe not complain very much but there can be many liver cells that are become damaged and partially decomposed, so, we call that liver infection but liver infection can have like many-many-many different levels so it does not necessarily mean that you can detect hepatitis C or B or A or whatever. You can have a very low grade of that simply by having congestion in the bile ducts of the liver where you can store hundreds and thousands of stones and the surrounding tissues will start becoming weaker and weaker and weaker and then you will get bacteria or you get a virus coming in that will enter the nucleus of the cell and will start changing it in order so that cells to survive in that environment or to die completely so that the body uses viruses to kill these cells which are potentially capable of mutating into cancer cells so the body uses the help of microorganism which then create the infection but they are themselves not causing the infection that is the misunderstanding. We give so much false credit to microorganisms and blame them for causing havoc in our body but this theory which was started by Louis Pasteur that has been discredited long – long time ago even by himself he said it is not true, it the terrain, it is the environment that attracts these bacteria or germs into it without the environment, without the toxins, without the contamination there is no bacteria or viral infection.

Patrick Timpone: so are you could it be said that you advocate even in the case maybe of lymes spirochete or lymes bacteria or herpes or such would you ever try to go after that directly with colloidal silver or something else you going to try to actually get that directly or would you work with the immune system and have that deal with whatever is out there.

Andreas Moritz: yes. It is not a problem, I would not use colloidal silver, I would use silver soil which is a different silver product, it is more efficient it is smaller it is nano particle silver that is actually  dissolve in the water but in any case, if you want to do that, you want to make sure you stop creating the same situation over and over again

Patrick Timpone: right. right.

Andreas Moritz: because then the body will have to come up with other mechanisms which often creating more severe illnesses than the little infection that you might have had. It is always wise not to suppress symptoms but work with the body so that you work on both levels, deal with the root causes while you deal with the symptoms to just make your life a little easier but do not juts attack the symptoms without the underline causes otherwise you end up with worse problems than you had before.

Patrick Timpone: but in general is that a good idea to be keeping the immune system with different products or medicinal mushrooms and things like that resheen

Andreas Moritz: yes anything that is part of the food chain and anything natural is fine. I personally do not take anything. I am fifty seven years old and I used to be very ill, even my liver was not clean, many of the supplements that people take they just do not get absorbed they end up in your toilet bowl, so it is really a lot of wasted money. It is very hard to absorb a lot of these supplements unless you have a well functioning digestive system and then you probably do not even need them anymore. But the focus should be rather on getting the digestion up to par, to make sure that you produce enough bile. Bile regulates almost the entire digestive process if you have only a quarter or third of the amount of bile that you are suppose to secrete then your digestion is not going to work and the supplements that you take up even calcium or other minerals will not be digested and absorbed properly because you need bile to digest and absorb minerals.

Patrick Timpone: so that is why then your book “THE AMAZING LIVER AND GALL BLADDER FLUSH” you think is key that folks can do this and get the bile flowing?

Andreas Moritz: yes, you find, at least I found, because millions of people have done this process now, that people with cancer that you find almost every person who has cancer has congested bile ducts in the liver and when that is cleaned out then the body has a chance to mop up toxins that means the body does not have to take recourse to such practices as cancer in order to deal with it.

Patrick Timpone: lets go back to, so many emails we get with ladies, god love them, with breast cancer, you know, tumors , so you suggesting if you say with the mouth issue and you get rid of all these infections and if you can find a diet that is rally working for you that is good that your body likes, that the body is going to eat this tumor up. It is going go away by itself.

Andreas Moritz: yes, there is a natural course of developing because cancer does not develop from out of the blue for no good reason, it has a good reason and the reason is always the body works with cancer to heal itself or something else that is been bothering it for a long – long time. It can be something very simple for example some I have written in my book “CANCER IS NOT A DISEASE” that many cancers are created because women wear bras. Such a simple thing because bras often cut into the lymphatic ducts

Patrick Timpone: yeah

Andreas Moritz: sop the lymph drainage from the breast is inadequate so the breast accumulate a lot of toxic materials such as dead cells. We know that the body turns over thirty billion cells per day if you are not removing those cells from the breast tissue and you do not remove the daily produces lactic acid, uric acid, urea, ammonia and all those metabolic waste products that are highly acidic, if you do not do that the tissues itself become drowned in acid pools and so there are studies to show that if you do not wear any bras women who do not wear bras have hardly any breast cancers and women who wear bras for eight hours a day they have a much higher level of breast cancer and there are some women who wear them twenty four a day and they have the highest rates of breast cancer

Patrick Timpone: my goodness!

Andreas Moritz: so you can see that there are many different potential causes that many women do not know anything about. It is good to learn about them so that you stay away from the need for cancer to grow I the body.

Alicia Sharon: Hi, I do have a question that I have for you. I do not like bras so yea! I am so glad that you said that. But getting away without wearing a bra is a whole another issue I am sure. And the question that I was going to ask you I am going there, I just had a root canal because and I heard you talking about this that is why I called, I had a root canal because I had a tooth infection at the root of my tooth and they said it was chronic I just did not know that is what was going on, it was under a crown but I felt so much better after I did the root canal because the pain went away and I just kind of felt like I was taken care of but now I am kind of considering it was a chronic infection. Am I in danger or something? and then also kind of going on the same lines is that I have another tooth in my mouth that I think it was a cavity or I had a filling and it also has an abscess at the root and they are considering doing a root canal but we are going to and I am seeing a holistic dentist she said that we will watch it for little bit and see if the infection, if your body can fight it off itself or if the need to go in and do a root canal so if you have any suggestions on what is going on or what I can do? it would be great.

Andreas Moritz: root canal really are a source of pain in a way because you do not often know what is going on underneath. You do not really have access to the tubules inside the tooth, these are tiny little like tunnels and if you connect all the tubules, the little tunnels with one another you have several miles long tunnel and so in these tiny little tunnels you have these bacteria sitting there and waiting for something to do and so if there is more dead material or damaged cell material they will start keeping the infection going it is just goes up a little while and you feel fine and then it goes it drops and so you have these fluctuations that can go on undetected and you do not really realize that there is a source of chronic infection there. So I am not in favor of any root canals because of that it is sometimes safer to get the tooth out and work with that later but it is a real – real troublesome way always better to make sure that the teeth stay healthy, each tooth in the body is connected to different part of the gastro intestinal track there is one tooth related to each vertebra of the spine so if there is any trouble in the digestive track you will develop some problems in the respective tooth so it is good to clean out the digestive system so that the body has a chance to also heal up the tooth situation but once you have a dead root canal it is just doggy, if personally I had one, I do not have any tooth problems, I am fifty seven, I had a tiny little filling that happened because I was eating on a rock on a stone found in lentils but I take care of my digestive system and therefore I do not have any tooth problems I do not even get my teeth cleaned.

Patrick Timpone: Alicia I might suggest we have a whole dental section on our website. And you are going to hear lots and lots of various dentists form around the world including Dr. Hal Huggins that will tell you opinion their opinion that there is no such thing as a safe root canal so I would really look at that before you make some decisions about leaving that one in or getting another one.

Alicia Sharon: I was just wondering if, can the infection clarify itself the one that I had not done a root canal on considering it is at the root of the tooth right down below the surface, can my body fight it?

Patrick Timpone: it is hard to say is it not andreas?

Andreas Moritz: yes it is very unpredictable because the whole thing is unpredictable it is killing something in the body and having dead cells sitting there the chances that bacteria will infect them is very-very high.

Patrick Timpone: you really have to find a dentist that is going to be able to go on there and look very-very delicately at the situation and just because they call themselves holistic dentist, does not always mean that they really understand how this works, it is very tricky business the mouth so please listen to interviews and then you can ,make some wise decisions thanks for the call. this is from Michelle in Lanchester Pennsylvania. “Good morning. Wow I am really appreciating you guys for some reason this is making something click in my mind and heart. I feel like I actually I have some power over what may happen in my body. I was told I have breast cancer three years ago and I was only thirty six years old. I was scared to death I swear just hearing that I had cancer took ten years off my life. Janet: Hi I am Janet I am calling form Boston.

Patrick Timpone: I do not know if I got that one but go ahead,  how can we help Janet.

Janet: well I am a big fan of Andreas I have read his liver flush book probably eight times and just done my second liver flush.

Patrick Timpone: how was that experience? did you get some stones?

Janet: yeah I did and I am also have a masters degree in pharmacology actually a 105 graduate hours from a top ten institute and I am holistic health consultant

Andreas Moritz: oh wow !

Janet: so I am very interested in this for myself and for sharing with other people in an email I wrote last night it was actually to make notes to remember what to say to you this morning. I wanted to bounce my hormones, lose weight,  I am post menopausal, it has been very hard for me to shed the extra seventy pound I have put on since my divorce a couple of years ago. I am also very allergic, horrible seasonal allergies to mountain juniper, okcapon here in Texas, lots of mould, have some arthritis but that is better since I stopped eating tomatoes, in December I used the four Chinese herb tinctures you mentioned in your book. I contacted Julia Chan, I read every article on her website several times, I did not get stones out with the flush but I did a couple of things different, I used magnesium citrate instead of Epsom salt

Andreas Moritz: right

Janet: I actually used natural calm

Andreas Moritz: okay

Janet: you are probably familiar with that.  I also did not use olive oil, I used walnut oil and I vomited. Later I was told that walnut oil was too hot.

Andreas Moritz: right, Yeah I would not recommend that.

Janet: yup and I found out the hard way. I did get out a lot of bile, I might have got some stone but I did not really catch those. Now five month later I did my second flush I waited because I moved and got distracted. On this flush I did not drink the apple juice like I did on the last one, I used the malice acid

Andreas Moritz: right.

Janet: and I took the capsules, and I did not see that about putting it in the water. I took 2400 milligrams morning and evening with food, I weight over 200 pounds so I figured that is not too much for me. I also did a 1000 milligrams of torian morning and evening I read somewhere that it was helpful and I did that for five days .

Patrick Timpone: so how can Andreas, what would you like to ask him?

Janet: okay cut to the chase, I want to know what does he think about putting the Epsom salts in capsules?

Andreas Moritz: I am not in favor of that because you want to have them dissolved in enough water so that it can reach the different parts of the liver and the gall bladder and the bile, the common bile duct so that all those parts relax during the liver flush whereas if you have it in capsules then body will have to supply enough water in order to at least get that done in a similar way so makes it much -much easier for the body if you already dilute it.

Janet: well I did drink it with the six ounces of the distilled water that I was suppose to dissolve it in.

Andreas Moritz: yes, it can that is better if you drink it with the water but it is still would be better if it is non crystallized when you actually ingest it where as the Epsom salts crystals are harder to dissolve when you ingest that with water then if you already dissolve it in water.

Janet: well I did read in one flush description, and you know there are hundreds on there web, to dump the crystals in the water and just toss it down without waiting for them to dissolve that is what gave me the impression.

Andreas Moritz: no, I, in my book I describe that it should be properly dissolved to have the maximum benefit.

Janet: okay my second question Andreas is that, today I am starting a master cleanse after three days of easing in, I finished my second flush two weeks I want to do one very three or four weeks. Can I do it while I am on the master plan?

Andreas Moritz: I would recommend not to fast because when you fast you do not produce enough bile and the gall bladder is actually shrinking during that time because there is not enough bile, it is not stimulated and therefore the body is not producing new or dumping new bile into the gall bladder when you do a liver flush you want to have the maximum of bile possible in the gall bladder so that you, once it is stimulated, it is all bring out the stones with it.

Janet: have you heard of the egg and lime flush?

Andreas Moritz: no.

Janet: it has been posted as being easier somehow they are doing it without Epsom salts they are doing it with a little bit of sunflower oil but they are using egg and the lime.

Patrick Timpone: it sounds like you really kind of skipping around a lot with different things my dear.

Janet: yeah I am because you are telling me I do not have a lot of time and I am reading from the notes, the email that I,

Andreas Moritz:  well I agree with you, I do eat butter unsalted butter that is the only thing I have from animals and I have been vegan vegetarian for forty years now. There was a time though when I could not even digest the vegetarian diet. I was very ill with eating animal products and particularly dairy products and I had rheumatoid arthritis and arrhythmia, severe anemia, multiple deficiencies that virtually everything that I ate, I could not digest. And when I stopped eating meat and chicken and all those kinds of foods I at least got rid of the arrhythmia and I did not die, I was told I was going to live for just another year and I was just twelve years old.

Patrick Timpone: my god!

Andreas Moritz: so when I changed the diet it did have an impact however only when I cleaned out my liver and removed about three and a half thousand stones that is when my health really took off and I was perfectly capable of deriving my nutrients from the simple vegetarian diet, I eat lots of vegetables, cooked vegetables, some raw like salads lettuce, cucumber, avocado those kinds of things and food, grain foods, nuts, seeds, spices, particularly turmeric and anything that goes with it like in curries and coconut milk or coconut powder  that I add to the food make it very delicious so it is very easy to nourish the body with these kinds of foods, legumes sometimes, so I do not see that there is a necessity to eat other foods that are from animals particularly when now like in America we now know that chicken for example have arsenic in them, they are actually fed with arsenic to kill parasites and would not want to have arsenic in my body, the chicken litter is being used to feed the cattle, so they get the arsenic so you get it from that as well, if you have free range chicken, very hard to find by the way, even the so called free range chicken are not healthy anymore they are still in cages and again they are dead so to put something dead into my body, heat it to the point that it is detoxified it does not have the pesticides in them, does not make it any better because once you heat animal protein it coagulates that means, it is losing its three dimensional structure and in that form the body has great trouble with it because you have  two dimensional protein chains that can cause damage they can cause irritation and inflammation in the blood vessel if that protein  enters the blood which you think you would want to but in fact it is better if you do not because if you do then these proteins get integrated into the blood vessel walls they can cause inflammation that can cause bleeding and  you have blood clots that could go into the heart and cause a heart attack or a stroke and in order for the body to prevent that it will have to build cholesterol layers, build them into the blood vessel walls so that these blood clots they would not escape so it is preventive mechanism that is called cardiovascular disease.

Patrick Timpone: what was it or what time did you introduce some raw butter into your diet and do you think it is helpful as the western tribe people say some of these a little bit of animal fat is good for dental.

Andreas Moritz: very good because in order to digest carbohydrates, protein,  virtually anything, you have to have fat. You cannot digest protein with out fat you cannot digest fat if you do not have enough bile. So it is not just the food, if you are not able to digest fats because you do not produce enough bile then the fat is not going to do you any good. It can cause a lot of problems. If you are not getting the fat then the different parts of your body cannot develop properly you need to have the fat in order to stimulate digestive and metabolic functions that are essentially for mashing the tissues in the body cholesterol for example is a fatty, it is a combined molecular structure between protein  and fat, fatty acids, so you need both you need to have the fat and half of the brain is composed of fat, the heart itself if largely fat cholesterol, there is virtually no part in the body that is not made of cholesterol, all hormones are made of cholesterol. So you do need the fatty component but you have to be able to digest it to make use of it otherwise you have these trans fatty acids created these faulty chains of acids which are then getting into the cell membranes and they cause severe damage and that is where you can get arthritis you can get all kinds of inflammatory responses where it seems the body is attacking itself but all the body does is attacking those damaged chains of fatty acids or fatty or protein fragments that  sit there and the body is trying to get rid of them through inflammation.

Patrick Timpone:  do you recommend to your patients that you with what your ideals are on any kind of supplementation to help heal the gut and to build like probiotics, hydrochloric acid or fermented foods, well fermented foods is not supplementation that is a food.

Andreas Moritz: that is a food.

Patrick Timpone: and lets see I would  suspect that you think that these are really good fermented foods.

Andreas Moritz: well it depends on the body type. Given if you give that fermented food to a pitha body type then he will probably get loose stools perhaps diarrhea which is not a good thing

Patrick Timpone: pitha in Ayurvedic medicine Andreas is more like hot, it could be like

Andreas Moritz: so you do not want to give too much soft food to a pitha type but you would want to give that to the vatha type because vata is more prone to constipation, the thin body type, more dryness in the body and sour foods or fermented foods will help to keep the moisture in the body and that person should also have more salt whereas the pitha type you want to cut back on slat. So it depends on who you are.

Patrick Timpone: what kind of things ongoing food wise or supplementation helps to build the inner terrain so we can really digest our food. What does that?

Andreas Moritz: well mostly it is bile.

Patrick Timpone: bile

Andreas Moritz: the presence of bile keeps the probiotics bacteria intact whereas the absence of bile leads to more destructive and bacteria because you have more undigested food when you have more undigested food in your gut you will require more Candida bacteria more destructive decomposing bacteria because if you do not have these bacteria you have that rotting stuff sitting there it is just not good for the body to have dead stuff sitting there for too long. Sometimes we blame these destructive bacteria for causing is so many problems but it is not true in the presence of bile you have a balanced proportion between probiotics and destructive bacteria you have to have equali (E-coil), if you do not have equali (E-coil)bacteria you can die.

Patrick Timpone: so this bile flow that is why the gall bladder flushes are so critical the bile flow in the inner terrain helps everything live symbiotically

Andreas Moritz: correct, it is bodies natural laxative if you lack it then the passage of waste through your colon will slow down and that means you have a chance for proliferation of destructive bacteria that try to decompose what the body could not get rid of fast enough.

Patrick Timpone: do you think anyone listening right now whether on a podcast or live here this morning on June 16th could do well with a gall bladder flush?

Andreas Moritz: probably 99.99 percent.

Andreas Moritz: living in this country with all the chem trails and the water pollution, the additives in food and the herbicides and patricides, it is just almost impossible not to have a contaminated body

Patrick Timpone: folks get the book “THE AMAZING LIVER AND GALL BLADDER FLUSH” you lay it out there do not you and does one have to eat a particular type of diet working up to the gall bladder flush?

Andreas Moritz: well during the six days of preparation I recommend to lay low on animal protein and   fried foods and the sweets, too many sugar things, that impairs liver, that is a burden to the liver so you want to unburden the liver as much as possible because it can soften up the stone structures and by the time you do the liver flush you get the maximum benefit whereas, if you overburden the liver during the preparation then u will have less stones coming out.

Patrick Timpone: now if I remember it has been awhile since I read your book you have some options as far as and Amelia wants to know how you feel like using orthophosphoric acid for the gall bladder flush instead of the malic acid.

Andreas Moritz: yes I have seen some people benefit and other people did not some people do that and they did not get anything out so if you want to have an easier one that is a new one that I came across and that is 250 milliliters that is about a quart so a quarter quart of cherry juice that is sour tart, not the sweet one but the sour tart version. There are two different types of cherries the sour cherry and the sweet cherry. You want to have the sour tart cherry and you can find it in most grocery stores without any additives it is just it has the highest content of malic acid but it is easy to ingest and it is less amount sop 250 milliliters per day for six days  that works really well as a preparation.

Patrick Timpone: milliliter what is that tell us in ounces what that would be.

Andreas Moritz: yeah that would be about there is thirty two ounces to a quart right? So that would be eight ounces.

Patrick Timpone: oh just eight ounces of a good sour tart cherry juice

Andreas Moritz: yeah you can dilute it if it is too sour so it is no problem but many people like it the way it is.

Patrick Timpone: and that softens the stones so when you do the flush then you they will come out easier the stone.

Andreas Moritz: right

Lets go back to diet a second just off the top off your head Andreas Moritz are there some real no-no’s as far as you are concerned to when it comes to food combining, fats, sugar, carbs? What kind of things have you seen really broad stroke just do not work together?

Andreas Moritz: yea like I mentioned fat goes together with carbohydrates and with protein . you need fat to digest these. Of course provided you have enough bile to digest the fat that needs, that is needed to digest the carbohydrate. Otherwise carbohydrate will go through your gut far too quickly to be absorbed, so you may have the best carbohydrates vegetables and grain foods for example or beans and you are not going to digest them. So fat is needed to digest these.

Patrick Timpone: so a sweet potato may be, butter with a sweet potato

Andreas Moritz: yes you have to have fat with potato sweet or white potato otherwise that moves so quickly thought the system that it will ferment in your large intestine you will get a lot of gas and toxins created by the bacteria that decompose them if you eat fruits that one of the big no-nos.  do not combine it with anything else.

Patrick Timpone: anything else

Andreas Moritz: and do not eat it in the evening. It will just turn into alcohol because  the food is not digesting after seven eight o’clockish body stops digesting food at that time.

Patrick Timpone: what about eating nuts with fruits or just do it alone?

Andreas Moritz: yes nuts can bacteria taken with carbohydrates there is no problem with vegetables, grain but fruits should go separate. Leave at least half an hour before you eat something else if you have eaten fruit. Morning is a great time to eat fruits, mid afternoon is also fine but do not fruit juice is, do not drink fruit juices with your meal you would just create a mess.

Patrick Timpone: so no other real just do not

Andreas Moritz: protein, if you eat animal protein  and you combine it with carbohydrates like rice and steak for example it just does not work because you produce completely opposite types of secretion in the stomach one for to digest, the hydrochloric acid to digest to the protein and alkaline to digest the rice then these two become neutralized and you do not digest either of these foods.

Patrick Timpone: so there all steak potato thing that does not work

Andreas Moritz: no

Patrick Timpone: that does not work. Maria wants to know she said her son has had the gall bladder removed, does it do you know anything to elevate severe obstructive sleep apnea so there are two questions what are some special things you have to do if your gall bladder is removed and then sleep apnea.

Andreas Moritz: the two actually are often occurring together because if you have your gall bladder removed you have had it removed because you had a congestion in the bile duct of the liver which forms stones and that lead to also stone growth in the gall bladder so you have removed the gall bladder but you have not removed the original cause of the problem which is the bile duct congestion.

Patrick Timpone: oh lets see ok, I am catching on to the something, so the bile duct congestion I separate form the gall bladder itself.

Andreas Moritz: Yes the gall bladder is a little – little bladder that is attached to the liver and so the liver produces, the liver has thousand and thousands of bile ducts and it is like a, it is a tree and then you have two of those tress with braches and bigger branches and smaller ones and tiny ones and so the whole liver is full of that so each liver cells produces bile and pumps it into the bile ducts and then they start passing it on to the larger bile ducts and then to the bigger bile ducts and eventually there are two major bile trunks that are combining into the common bile duct which then take the bile into the gall bladder

Patrick Timpone: into the gall bladder

Andreas Moritz: yeah  and then the gall bladder removes about ninety percent of the water content making the scope of the bile very-very slick like a syrup and then that is shot down into the small intestine when your food comes into the stomach, the moment the foods comes into the stomach that is when the gall bladder squeezes its content into the small intestine so by the time the food leaves the stomach then that food can combine with the bile in order to process the digestive function. So that is why it is so very important if you do not have a gall bladder to at least get your bile ducts cleaned out so that you allow the bile to come out of the liver and to improve the digestion somewhat but to also allow the bile to take toxins out of the liver which the liver removes form there blood stream because at the moment what you are doing is the toxins remain in there liver and they are backwashed into the blood and from there goes into the lymphatic system and it will be dumped into the tissues and so when you have the lymph drainage problem that you have that you will eventually have sleep apnea because you have a lot of congestion in the abdomen so that is why your abdomen is enlarged and its puts pressure into the thoracic duct and the thoracic duct does not drain form the throat and the neck area that is why there is so much pressure building all the way up to the throat so when you sleep you cannot breathe properly it is just too much pressure

Patrick Timpone: so it goes all the way back to the liver, I cannot believe that I got one, two, three, four people that had their gall bladder removed Douglas wow is it that

Andreas Moritz: common

Patrick Timpone: must be common

Andreas Moritz: twenty million a year

Patrick Timpone: how many?

Andreas Moritz: twenty million

Patrick Timpone: so the strategy though if the gall bladder was removed for stones or an infection the issue was the bile ducts in the liver were obstructed. So they can still do the liver gall bladder flush without the gall bladder

Andreas Moritz: yea absolutely and they will be surprised because I get so many people who have their gall bladders removed and they complain about the same trouble.

Patrick Timpone: yeah and they say what is the mater it is not in there. So what strategy eating with does do people to follow without a gall bladder is it can you still eat fat?

Andreas Moritz: the problem is that there is only a trickle of bile like one drop at a time coming out of the liver

Patrick Timpone: oh my goodness

Andreas Moritz: and that means you do not have a concentrated source of bile of concentrated bile to combine the fat to digest it so that is why they will have a lot of problems with a lot of foods because as I mentioned you need to have fats to digest proteins and carbohydrate all fats to digest protein  and you need to digest carbohydrate but for them eating animal protein is like a big no-no. if you do that you will develop a lot of other problems you get joint problems lot of uric acid like gouts like symptoms, arthritis, cardiovascular problems, blood pressure problems, kidney problems so it is better not to eat the protein  which you do not need anyway, I am living proof, I have not eaten protein  for forty years

Patrick Timpone: animal protein

Andreas Moritz: yeah animal protein and I do not eat consciously any protein  foods.

Patrick Timpone: so without the gall bladder it would better served being a vegetarian.

Andreas Moritz: that is right definitely. But then you might take a bile supplement and that is the only case where I would recommend take a some the only one that only works is ox bile to make sure you do not overdose on it because if you do you get diarrheas so only take as much as you do not get loose stools.

Patrick Timpone: is that standard process?

Andreas Moritz: that is standard process, every doctor should tell their patients afterwards that most doctors do not.

Patrick Timpone: ox bile

Andreas Moritz: yeah

Patrick Timpone: ok so that will be good that will help it produce bile for the non gall bladder people

Andreas Moritz: right

Patrick Timpone: this idea that fats are need for protein is fascinating id there a difference that the body is lets say gets coconut oil or flax oil or olive oil or maybe fat form maybe butter or cream is there any advantage to either or do they both works?

Andreas Moritz: they work in different ways like palm oil or coconut oil does not, it is a carbohydrate either way

Patrick Timpone: it is a carbohydrate

Andreas Moritz: yeah but that is why

Patrick Timpone: I though it is fat

Andreas Moritz: oh it is fatty but it is different, it does not require bile that is why people who have no gall bladder coconut oil or palm oil is one of there best oil.

Patrick Timpone: interesting

Andreas Moritz: and it still helps with the digestion of the food but it goes straight to the liver in its complete form and the liver breaks it down and actually makes glucose from it so you can actually feed the cells with it. so it is different than these other oils like olive oil or butter, you need to have bile to digest them

Patrick Timpone: I see

Andreas Moritz: so I would take all of them, I mean, I eat olive oil and coconut oil and butter these are my main sources, I love olive oil.

Patrick Timpone: yeah how about chea oil I have seen that is there a valuable thing to look at.

Andreas Moritz: I would take chea seeds

Patrick Timpone: not the oil

Andreas Moritz: and grind them, because there is so many wonderful things in the you do not want to miss out on that chea seed is one of the most greatest super foods on the planet

Patrick Timpone: really?

Andreas Moritz: yeah it is just so full of minerals and vitamins and complete protein  so if you are after proteins that many people in the Astic or in the Incas they used to just live off chea seeds if they did not have anything else and they were perfect

Patrick Timpone: my god

Andreas Moritz: they had no deficiencies

Patrick Timpone: I have not messed with them much Andreas what do you, I think you soak them, how do you eat them?

Andreas Moritz: you soak them if lets say if you have a cereal you soak it with the cereal or you soak them in water and then or you can grind them and then add them to your food you can out them over salads or over vegetables and it is a great addition it becomes, sort of swells if you put soak it in water and then it becomes even more tasty.

Patrick Timpone: lindy wants to know Patrick has had a guest on in the past that suggested sugar and protein is not good idea does Andreas agree?

Andreas Moritz: I agree that sugar is not a good idea full stop. There is more and more research coming through that sugar as a refined sugar, processed sugar causes probably more illness than the other food

Patrick Timpone: sure

Andreas Moritz: there is just not a single illness that is not related to sugar consumption

Patrick Timpone: do you think that would hold true even for raw honey. Raw honey and milk

Andreas Moritz: no raw honey is actually quite beneficial and it does not go through the stomach wall into the blood stream right away it is digested differently so I do have a teaspoon of raw honey in my water, warm water, in the morning with juice of two slices of lemon or lime and that cleanses and rinses the digestive track that is a good practice for anyone.

Patrick Timpone: do you think apple cider vinegar is a reasonable thing to take?

Andreas Moritz: some people cannot do it some pitha types have some difficulties, vata definitely benefit form it so they love vinegar, it is very good for them pitha types have difficulties with vinegar so it depends on the person

I used to have very strong nails seems like in the last ten years the nails have been changing with ridges starting with my little finger and there is an ayurvedic diagnosis to that isn’t there?

Andreas Moritz: yes . it basically mean that there is absorption difficulties of certain minerals and foods so when the digestion is not working well then the food is not absorbed properly when there are absorption problem you will get ridges in your finger nails that means there are certain things missing that do not go to the nails anymore because of the digestive issue.

Patrick Timpone: so it is not necessarily how many minerals you take in but what you are absorbing

Andreas Moritz: exactly. And  again bile is needed to digest calcium and magnesium and zinc and all those minerals and many vitamins require bile, the presence of bile, to digest them and absorb them so if there are any deficiencies in the level of the hair or the nails then that shows the digestive the small intestine particularly not working as efficiently.

Andreas Moritz: well there is fungus in every cancer, it is not that the fungus is actually causing the cancer, the fungus is there to actually get to the point of decomposing when the stage has been reached where decomposition or breaking down the tumor is feasible and necessary so you will always find in every cancer cell you find fungus, you find Candida bacteria and you find TB bacteria or similar bacteria that ahs a great capability of decomposing the cell when the saturation of these micro organisms have been reached so I am, yeah I understand the theory behind it and giving the alkaline substance to the tissues so that the cancer would break down but my approach to cancer is not to target the cancer per say to try to destroy it, you can do that, as long as you dealing with the root causes of the cancer you can also clear up the symptoms of the cancer but not without dealing with the root causes. The fungus is not the enemy, it is not the cause of the cancer just like a fungus on the surface of an apple that has fallen form the trees and sits there long enough and the bacteria’s have done their job in helping to decompose much of it once they are all dead apple cells and the fungus will be there and the same thing you find cancer cells there are lots of damaged cells there that are have not received enough oxygen and a lot of dead cells as well there so you can expect fungus to be present in any cancer any tumor.

Patrick Timpone: a lot of folks have trouble even doing brown rice with Candida and they, it feeds it, and but you do not seems to have a problem. You do brown rice. What is going on here?

Andreas Moritz: again if the digestive, that why it goes back to the liver, if the food is not digested well you will get Candida issues which can spread to all over the body you can get into the skin it can get into the as far as the skin that means anything in between the skin and the digestive system so Candida bacteria and fungus, Candida fungal illnesses they are related to, they are starting in the gut and that is where we should take them back to. Where do we breed them in the first place. Instead of blaming them or vilifying them it is good to ask the question what else do I do in my life that requires the help of these things? why do I not digest the rice? not just blaming the rice or the type of food that you eat necessarily but why do not I digest it? and why if it is them causing me so many problems because undigested food is the biggest problem that is the source of contamination in the body.

Patrick Timpone: it appears as if so many Americans even the people that really are natural food kind of people like you and I still have low hydrochloric acid certainly evident in the mainstream with everybody taking  these acid blockers when they have no acid, how does that combine with the bile flow? Is it all back to the bile flow Andreas Moritz and will that build the hydrochloric acid?

Andreas Moritz: the things is that your body if you are not capable of producing enough bile your body is signaling the liver actually is a speaking organ and it produces many hormones so there is a lot of exchanges between the liver and the rest of the gastrointestinal track all the way up to your salivary glands and of course the brain is computing all of that now when you are not having enough bile coming out of your liver then it is very important  that you do not over produce on hydrochloric acid so you actually produce less hydrochloric acid because it could be extremely damaging when you have not enough bile but you have the regular amount of hydrochloric acid what is happening is that you have the acid food content travelling down that is not neutralized by the bile and the pancreatic juices which are alkaline so now you have acid, hydrochloric acid, moving down through you small intestine and guess what this is going to erode, this can cause erosion problems in the wall of your intestines and you do not want that you do not want to have perforations occurring

Patrick Timpone: yeah

Andreas Moritz: so the body does everything what we call disease is actually protective mechanism and we have to instead of looking at just the stomach oh my god my stomach does not make enough hydrochloric acid, this is giving me a problem because these people will complain about heart burn you know what heart burn is?

Patrick Timpone: not enough actually

Andreas Moritz: stomach content, hydrochloric acid, moving through the center of the esophagus into the esophagus and it comes up into your mouth and then you say oh my god I am feeling this burning sensation in the middle of my chest why does that happen is because you have too little hydrochloric acid

Patrick Timpone: too little

Andreas Moritz: because when you have too little hydrochloric acid, the center of the esophagus no longer closes it only closes when you have enough hydrochloric acid in your stomach o many people are saying well I have heart burn I need to have a drug that neutralizes the acid in the stomach and that means they make even less hydrochloric acid and after a while the stomach it becomes lazy, it just the stomach cells that produce hydrochloric acid they become damaged because of the erosion that comes with these anti acids and so then after a while you have a permanent situation of acid reflux unless you keep taking these drugs all the time.

Patrick Timpone: do you ever advocate taking hydrochloric acid?

Andreas Moritz: I personally do not recommend it because if you, the bile, if you make enough bile and you eat your food slowly, now a lot of people eat their food very fast right

Patrick Timpone: right

Andreas Moritz: so them they miss out on the salivary enzymes which are suppose to take care of digesting eighty percent of the carbohydrates that the eat so when you eat it too quickly or when you drink juices without swishing them around in your mouth and mixing them slowly with these salivary enzymes, you will not be able to digest these food in the stomach or thereafter

Patrick Timpone: so,

Andreas Moritz: mastication is probably the most important  thing that you do.

Patrick Timpone: yeah

Andreas Moritz: when you eat food

Patrick Timpone: here is a fifty there year old woman she says what is the meaning the tip of my tongue gets a burning sensation on my lips? I have had my gall bladder removed a year ago. Burning sensation with her lips and tongue, any ideas what that could be?

Andreas Moritz: yes, basically this is exactly what we have been talking about. Not enough bile and the stomach acid is not neutralized properly the tip of the tongue that area relates to the stomach so there are stomach issues. Definitely. And I used to have that a lot and before I cleaned out my liver and then it disappeared and I never had it again. A lot of people have tongue ulcers as well and when you look at the tongue it I like a mirror for the organs and system in the body. Every organ is represented on the tongue.

Patrick Timpone: many people are plagued with canker sores like in the inside of the cheek or such especially if they bite it. what is going on there?

Andreas Moritz: well it is basically ulceration in different segments or parts of the gastrointestinal track do since every thing form the mouth to the anus which constitutes the eliminatory track, digestion begins in the myth so that is the first part do the digestive system if you have any parts lets say in the colon where there is an irritation, chronic irritation because of a stricture or an inflammatory process diverticulosis where there are pockets of waster matter press into the near the wall of the colon and they sit there because there is just constipation or congestion in the colon, then, you may have a similar situation showing up on the tongue or in the mouth in different parts of the mouth that connect or correspond to that part of the intestine for example the entire lower lip is connected to the large intestine, the upper lip is connected to the stomach and so any sensation in the corners like many people have splitting or they have ulcerations in the corner of the mouth that is duodenal ulcer so there is ulceration or inflammation in the duodenum in the first section of the small intestine.

Patrick Timpone: and this all stems back to bile flow.

Andreas Moritz: bile flow is just like that substance that does everything in the body it is just like universal remedy it is the panacea for digestive problems, for keeping the bacteria population intact, for removing toxins because bile is the vehicle it is the transport mechanism for the liver for getting rid of toxins and waste product and noxious substances the liver is the filter of the blood. The kidneys are only taking excessive plasma out of the blood and the liver is detoxifying the blood, it is making sure that the blood is neat and clean.

Patrick Timpone: lets go back to traditional societies do we have any way of knowing where there was there mechanism for cleaning the, flushing the liver gall bladder or

Andreas Moritz: yeah.

Patrick Timpone: with just natural foods did you not need to do it?

Andreas Moritz: well in those days you  did not have artificial synthetic vitamins, hormones, synthetic everything. And now we have like forty thousand different kinds of food most of them are factory made we have herbicide, pesticides, chem trails dropping poisons on us, there is just pollution everywhere so now our livers are far more over taxed than anytime in human history but you go back to the ancient Greeks, to the Egyptians and the ancient Indians, India, you will find that they had the remedies for cleaning out the liver which used oil and lemon juice

Patrick Timpone: oh really

Andreas Moritz: juice so it is not an new thing and it is something that existed. When I lived in cypress for fifteen years in the Greek part of cypress and I visited Greek villages and I asked their grandmothers what do you do when your grandchildren get sick? Oh we give them olive oil and lemon juice.

Patrick Timpone: really!

Andreas Moritz: and  then they have these green things coming out of them and so I said and then what happens? Well they are healthy again, they do not need anything for another year but we do that with them when they get sick and we know that they need to clean out and that is what they know they did not know how  and  why

Patrick Timpone: my god

Andreas Moritz: they just knew through observation that this works.

Patrick Timpone: so then do you feel with the protocol with your book “THE AMAZING LIVER AND GALL BLADDER FLUSH” with the Epsom salts and malic acid, these are just extra added attractions to leverage this protocol to make it more powerful

Andreas Moritz: yes and because we have far more toxins we need a sort of stronger protocol we are not just once a year and then our liver are so contaminated it is like the filter is getting dirty faster because of the high pollution then it used to be hundred years ago when there was very little.

Patrick Timpone: how often do you do, you do still do it today.

Andreas Moritz: I do it once a year, I no longer pass any stones in the last twelve, thirteen, fourteen year because my diet and lifestyle is such that I do not get the gall stone too much.

Patrick Timpone: so then, you feel then, regardless to what you are exposed in the air and such your liver is in a state that it can deal with it.

Andreas Moritz: oh yes now that liver because it is clean it can deal with whatever comes through  it but  my I had bile duct congestion when I was six years old

Patrick Timpone: my god

Andreas Moritz: so I has stones when I was that age that is why my health declined so rapidly and by age twelve I was literally not even able to live

Patrick Timpone: is there facial diagnosis or things that we can look at juts to see for fun it we need to have a liver gall bladder flush and ayurvedic does a lot of

Andreas Moritz: there is a  chapter in the book that shows the marks and the indicators for gall stones presence in the liver bile ducts

Patrick Timpone: really! You can actually see it on the face

Andreas Moritz: yes, there are marks, there are lines like if you have vertical lines that run between your eyebrows then that is a typical telltale sign, discoloration under the eyes like dark green under the eyes that shows it, just a grayish color the facial color or reddening in the chest or in the face that shows it then there are so called liver spots  guess why, they call them liver spots!

Patrick Timpone: yeah

Andreas Moritz: on the back of their hands and some on the face if there are big ones that shows the gall bladder has stones, so yeah, there are many different signs and just almost every kind of health condition can be related back to bile duct congestion

Patrick Timpone: and how long to wait in between flushes if somebody wants to

Andreas Moritz: three to four weeks

Patrick Timpone: three to four weeks and then do another one

Andreas Moritz: yeah

Patrick Timpone: and you do recommend doing a colonic a couple days after correct?

Andreas Moritz: yeas within three days after and not later than that or colema which is a like a home colonic you can do It yourself there is some information ion my website but yeah definitely because there are always some stones that get caught in the colon and you want to make sure that they all come out and they are flushed out with the water with this procedure

Patrick Timpone: I remember a few years ago I think we talked on the air and I did a liver gall bladder flush and I did not do the colonic and lot of stones came out and boy I felt terrible Andreas I just like the next week I just felt like a truck hit me

Andreas Moritz:  well you do not want to keep them inside.

Patrick Timpone: and why do not they all get out they just kind of get stuck there

Andreas Moritz: well they are irritating so they can cause parts of the colon to tighten and to become contracted and so that can hold them up and then they decompose and then they leave the toxins in the colon and those toxins get reabsorbed, so it does not make any sense to get them out of the liver just to keep them in the colon.

Patrick Timpone: so now just to be clear then these stones are coming out of the ducts in the gall bladder and in the liver right?

Andreas Moritz: yes out of the gall bladder and the bile ducts in the liver

Patrick Timpone: I see

Andreas Moritz: but mostly from the bile ducts of the liver. There are called cholesterol stones. They are now like rocks that you can throw at someone you cannot hurt someone with throwing these green cholesterol stones at some one,  they are soft putty like they decompose when you put them in the air or in warmth or heat because they are ninety percent cholesterol so most of it is just fat but it is hardened fat, it is bile components that are normally liquid but they become so deprived of water that they become really hard like waxy and they become obstructive so they can go into the pancreatic duct even and cause pancreatitis which is the commonest cause of pancreatitis. So you do want to clear them out. Many people do not and then they have gall stone attacks or pancreatitis or diabetes which can be caused by these stones entering the pancreatic duct.

Patrick Timpone: well Andreas Moritz you are a real inspiration to us all I am going to grab my book off the shelf and thing I am going to do one. I haven’t done one for a while liver and gall bladder flush. So you are working on three new books?

Andreas Moritz: yes

Patrick Timpone: and your latest ones are about vaccine “FEELING GREAT AND LOOSING WEIGHT” and also

Andreas Moritz: “VACCINE-NATION” with a hyphen I  between it is probably the most important book I have ever written

Patrick Timpone: really

Andreas Moritz: I could not believe it myself when I started digging into everything and really discovered that most of the modern illnesses we have are actually caused by vaccine

The Different Ayurvedic Body Types, Which One Are You?

The different Ayurvedic body types, which one are you?

This is a question about, with regard to, my book “DIABETES, NO MORE!” On page 32 it says “See your body type food list” and he is asking where is that list and what body types are there?

I have discussed the entire topic of body types, the different Ayurvedic body types… Ayurveda is the oldest system of medicine evolved… in my book “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION“. It is a very comprehensive book and I highly recommend you read particularly chapters 3,4,5 and 6 which will go into that topic very carefully and in a detailed way which will allow you to get an understanding of what body types are and why different foods are suitable for different body types, why certain body types are more prone to certain illnesses and other body types to other illnesses, if they do certain things such as eating foods that are not compatible with the body type, the body will react and develop certain health conditions, for example the kapha body type, K-A-P-H-A, kapha body types should be very cautious with certain kinds of food that have a sweet effect once they are ingested, that does not mean necessarily sugar, that means there are certain kinds of food that have a sweet after-effect that then can cause the insulin resistance that we know as diabetes. And there are body types that react in a very different way if ingested with the same foods and they would not develop the same kind of problem, so, it is very good to get a complete understanding. There is a way how to test it out, there is a questionnaire in the book where you can determine your own body type so that you can learn about the characteristics of the body types, why you are a certain way and why there is not one food that is suitable for every single person because we are different, we have different combinations of elements in our system that make us different, the basic three body types are VATA, PITTA and KAPHA, but, there can be combinations of them such as pitta-vata, vata-pitta, kapha-pitta and so on.

So I highly recommend that you look at these chapters and get a better understanding about the body types that allows you to really understand the field of natural health much, much more quickly and better and then sort of questioning all kinds of things that come along. There is lot of health advice that is generalized for all the people like ‘this is good for everyone’ and this is not really how it works, it is a very individual thing… health advice should always be dedicated to one’s body type and not just generalized.

Greg Voisen: Welcome back to Inside Personal Growth. This is Greg Voisen, host of Inside Personal Growth and I want to thank all of our listeners who join us from around the world to listen to the words of wisdom  from our authors. And today on the air, I have Andreas Moritz, who is joining us from South Carolina and Andreas is a health expert in his field and he has a book called “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION” and I have to admit that this is, you want to talk about breakthrough medicine for the twenty-first century. This is a wonderful book. Good day to you Andreas. How are you?

Andreas Moritz: Thank you. I am absolutely good today.

Greg Voisen: Well, we appreciate having you on and I am going to let our listeners know a little bit about you, Andreas, and then we are going to get into a series of questions here. Andreas is the author of many books but he lectures and he is a practitioner in the field of alternative and integrative medicine. He is also the author of over a dozen books on various subjects pertaining to holistic health and is most well-known for his books “THE AMAZING LIVER AND GALLBLADDER FLUSH“, “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION” and “CANCER IS NOT A DISEASE“. His ideas have appeared in USA Today and in the 90s he began self-publishing self-help books on alternative medicine in mind-body-spirit integration. Andreas has had medical challenges himself from the early age of six dealing with arrhythmia, anemia, abnormally low blood pressure, frequent fainting and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Although he had challenges with this, he then went on to and went into the practice of iridology and trained under his uncle Dr. Harry Kirchofer… how do you pronounce his last name?

Andreas Moritz: Kirchofer

Greg Voisen: yup, in Switzerland, and you know his background is in Ayurvedic medicine and we are going to be speaking about that. And he has travelled the world and he has just amazing credentials and if you want to look for more of his credentials, I would recommend that you go to his website as well but I would really like to get into the heart of the matter because there is just in this book, for my listeners it is in excess of five hundred pages long now, I was looking at it as more of a reference book as well, but if you wanted to go into any area that just by taking the index and going through it you can do it and it is amazingly well done and an exceptional read. So Andreas, you mentioned that the state of health is a reflection of how we perceive ourselves and our world. Can you comment because I think this is the basis… foundation,,, that you wrote in the introduction to your book for our listeners… why you follow this path and why our listeners would want to know more about that.

Andreas Moritz: Basically perception creates a reaction, a response inside of us and how we respond to any given situation, whether it is a traumatic situation like the loss of money, job, or a loved one or whether it is a disease that is afflicting us, how we respond to it is determining, literally, determining whether we recover and benefit from that incident or whether we go down with it. And so, our response is the most important in all of that. Unfortunately in the medicine system that we have today, we are being presented with like cut realities, these are like written in stone, realities where you have cancer and this is how much you have to live unless you take these treatments. We do not even given a choice how to respond to it and however, we do have that choice. And as I found in all the thirty-seven years of practicing in this field, that the choices that we can make are fantastically successful if we dare step into that and take self-responsibility for what is happening to us. We may not be able to change what happened to us but we certainly can change our response to it.

Greg Voisen: And I think that western medicine has a tendency to engulf people with kind of this fear of taking that alternative path, don’t you think so, that happens sometimes? You know if someone gets cancer, I will just use an example, my son got chronic myelogenous leukemia at twenty-one and at the time there was a drug called Gleevec and that was the only treatment, but it was the only treatment from western medicine. What he did do though is, he got heavily involved in Zen and meditation practice he went into a vegan diet and I actually believe it was those things that cured him, not so much the Gleevec.

Andreas Moritz: Oh, you are absolutely right. There is a actually a huge amount of research being done that the things that make us better are far more successful than the things that we suppress, or try to correct with medication or with any other therapies. So by focusing on the things that really work there is everyday almost  a new study coming out on vitamin D alone and how vitamin D, which is induced or produced by our body in response to sun exposure, we literally have an ability to reverse cancers by up to seventy percent. Now imagine that, if any other therapy would have that kind of success rate or any drug would have that kind of success rate it would be the best-selling drug for ever. And so we somehow forget that we have these healing gifts already build into our system but we hardly ever use them. So vitamin D which controls or turns on two and a half thousand genes in our body and turn them off when needed, we have vitamin D as a cardiovascular protection, we use vitamin D to allow our brain to function properly, it literally can prevent almost every kind of illness and it can also helps to reverse or correct any kind of imbalance in the body and there are thousands of studies now to prove it, however, it is not being reported, it is not being… doctors do not tell the patients to go out in the sun because they have been told that the sun is dangerous, we have to stay away from it. But now we have eighty-five percent of the population being vitamin D deficient. People, when they are vitamin D deficient, they have a fifty-five percent higher risk of obesity, they have a huge risk of developing cancers, all kinds of cancers. We now know that just having normal vitamin D levels goes along with a four hundred percent lower risk of developing colon cancers which is one of the leading cancers. So again, a simple thing like vitamin Diet, is such a fantastic thing to prevent illness, a good diet, we now know that eating meat on a regular basis increases the risk of dying by twenty percent from  all illnesses that includes diabetes, osteoporosis, heart attacks, cancers and so on. But you have again a very, very simple way just by correcting one’s diet and eating more sensibly and from more good sources such as organic vegetables and foods and grains and legumes and nuts and seeds and things like that which is ideal for the human body because that is how we were meant to eat because our digestive system is not capable of digesting such heavy foods as meat because our hydrochloric acid is only one tenth of that of a carnivorous animals. So we only digest ten percent of it, the rest of it will decay or be rotting in the intestines which then becomes obviously a source of illness.

Greg Voisen: Yeah, I have been a vegetarian for twenty plus years and I just, you know, the diet to me again, it is my preference, like you said we have choices, it has always been my diet preference and your book deals with this down-to-earth issues of health such as lifestyle, diet, nutrition, exercise, daily routines as you have mentioned, exposure to sun rays, sunlight but it is kind of based on ayurvedic medicine and I think some of our listeners out there, even though Deepak Chopra is somebody who has, kind of. maybe has exposed the world even a little more to that, explained the types, because I know I have read some about ayurvedic medicine and this is, isn’t  this one of your fundamental areas that you work with people on?

Andreas Moritz:  Yes certainly, because we are not all made in the same way. By even just going on the street you see thin people who walk very quickly, they talk very quickly, you hear them constantly saying something and so they are, sort of, the more agile people, and then you have the ones that are very slow, methodical and they’re more well built, sort of, have heavier bones, they have more body mass to them and the skin when you look at the back of their hands, you are not able to see the veins and bones, they are well covered. So obviously there are different body types and there is one that is standing out, you can see them from far away they have red hair, bright red hair, they are the so called pitta body types, PITTA and they have a lot of fire, a lot of heat in their body, so they do not get cold easily, they complain about wherever they go, it is, “I need to take something off because I am too hot”, so there is a vatta, the slim body type, that moves very quickly that talks very quickly but if he eats very congesting foods, like heavy foods like meat or potatoes, dry foods, then that person will get constipated, whereas the pitta body type if he eats the same kind of food, he wont get constipated at all. So there are certain foods that are useful for one body type and not useful for another. Likewise there is certain climates which are more beneficial for one person than for another and we have to sort of find out what we are and the book gives you hints in finding out your  body types  and what kind of foods are more conducive to the functioning and the metabolism in your body.

Greg Voisen: And so to assist on this path where you will take them through an assessment to determine body type ?

Andreas Moritz: Exactly.

Greg Voisen: Yeah!

Andreas Moritz: The book has actually a questionnaire where you can put in all the qualities, the  characteristics that you experience, then just simply by answering some questions and then you count the points and you will find out which body type you are. But simply by looking at the descriptions of the body type you will already know ‘that is me, that is me, that is me’, and you are very clear about why you are in a certain way, why you respond to stress in a given way, why do you look in a certain way. And so that makes you feel there is nothing wrong with you that is just how your body type is and each body type has of course psychological characteristics as well and if you know more about yourself you can use that more easily to determine how you want to live your life, and how and what you need from the environment. We now know that that sunlight is such an important factor for all body types. We are not born with sun shades in front of our eyes, we are supposed to receive all the rays that come from the sun in order to produce specific hormones in the brain and those hormones regulate the production of melanin in the skin which protects the skin against damage. You put sun shades on, then that protective matter is basically lost, you become susceptible to injury and then you have the self-fulfilling prophecy that the medicine system is putting out, that sunshine is dangerous. But what they do not tell you is that sunshade is actually, is one of the leading causes of skin cancer because it removes the protection, the melanin protection, in the skin. These are simple things that we ought to know in order to stay healthy, there is not really much one has to do. There is hydration, obviously, many people getting dehydrated because they are not drinking water which is the natural thing to drink where as they drink other things like coffee, too much coffees or teas or artificial drinks which are removing fluid from the body rather than putting fluid in the body, they are quite diuretic. And so again, once we have knowledge that hydration is so essential to produce digestive secretions to allow the blood to remain fluid enough and not get too thick for delivering nutrients to the cells in our body to take up oxygen and allow the oxygenation to occur properly for the metabolism to be proper, so once we know all of that, then we have the power to make choices and it is again all about self empowerment. Once we know that, we can handle any given situation and any disease that might pop up, since I was restoring health by going back to like, let’s say, healthy sleeping habits which we now know is responsible for numerous events like for low immunity, for example. You can restore the immune system by simply sleeping for eight and a half or eight to nine hours a night and people who are overweight, there is a new study that just came out it was done at the University of Chicago, and the study was released at the annals of internal medicine on the 4th of October and it basically tells people if you sleep eight and a half hours and you are overweight you lose fifty-five percent more body fat than a person who does not sleep enough hours.

Greg Voisen: That is a huge finding, so getting more rest…

Andreas Moritz: Exactly! Instead of trying to go on severe diets and exercise programs, just sleep the right amount of time at the right time of the night which is between ten and six, that is the best time to sleep, you automatically speed up your metabolism you balance the hormones in the body that regulate hunger and thirst and so you have no more cravings that make you overeat and that sort of thing. And these are studies that are showing… they are coming out now in frequency right now that tell people, the power is in your hands to make yourself healthy if you are not, and to stay healthy if you want to, and live a long healthy life.

Greg Voisen: Well, one of the things some of the people are dealing with more and more today and have been as society speeds up, is stress, and it is a big issue for people today and we know that cortisol levels, because  this is being reported everywhere, are going to increase with the higher levels of this continual stress, it is almost like the ‘fight or flight’ syndrome. What recommendations do you have for our listeners who, in these economic times, these challenged times, with high unemployment and all of the things that are going on, we know that it is the mental state, and they know they need to meditate and shift the way that they think about what it is, but what additionally can they do from a physical standpoint and a mental standpoint and a spiritual standpoint to get beyond that stress?

Andreas Moritz: Well, if you fight the stress or you try to solve the problem, you are stuck with the idea that there is something wrong. On the other hand, you can have a more accepting mode because negative things actually are propelled into our direction by positive reasons and that is sometimes very hard to grasp, but in my life I found… I discovered… that every negative thing that ever happened to me turned out to be a blessing,  it was something that I needed to experience so that I would discover something else that then would help hundreds and thousands of people. So I discovered that for myself and I have written a book about it – “LIFTING THE VEIL OF DUALITY” – where for every negative there is a positive reason behind it and, Jesus Christ said “Love your enemies”, love your adversities, love the things you do not like because when you do, when you accept them  into your life, then they transform into useful counterparts. And so that is something people might want to consider when dealing with stress because stress is not something that impacts us, it is our response to it that does. And so, when we all of us have the option to take a couple of deep breaths and say “I am not going to react right away, I am going to react in two minutes”, that means you put the power back into your court, you are now in charge, how you are going to respond to it and that will determine whether you come up with a good solution to this issue or not, whereas when you are stressed over something and you stay in your fear mode and you try to push away something you do not like, that moment you are stuck with it. Instead of doing that, you can just as well focus, just like if you do not like darkness you go to the light switch and turn on the light, you do not have to fight the darkness, you just put the thing under a different element. So if you are stressed, maybe all you need is a good night’s rest, because when you, let’s say, you stay up until midnight and you are trying to figure things out and then you cannot sleep properly, the next day you are not clear, you have brain issues, the blood circulation into the brain has diminished so incredibly that more toxins moving around the system, the stress hormones go up in order to cope with the lack of sleep and the deprivation of energy that has occurred because of that. So there are simple things you can do…  get a good meal that is satisfying you, do the things that make you joyful like just taking off and doing something for yourself, just for yourself, not for someone else, then this can recharge your batteries and you feel so much better shortly afterwards.

Greg Voisen: That is great advice, and one of the other things that you speak about and I think that many of our listeners might know this, but we do not pay attention much like you do, and I think the book articulates it well, you mention that the cells in our body are regenerating about every two to ten days. What are these built-in mechanisms that can help us from stopping this aging process because everyone today is talking about anti aging this and anti aging that, and truly we are like a copy machine aren’t we, and one of those cells mutates that is where the actually begins, isn’t it?

Andreas Moritz: Yes absolutely  true, because when we accumulated toxins over a number of years, and toxins… we have a lot of environment toxins,  just look at the chem trails that are a spewing huge amount of aluminum and other chemicals into our drinking water that just… there are new studies coming out that show that we have fifty thousand times more aluminum in our drinking water that is dumped from the sky and that is very, very toxic and that is just one of the toxins, there are so many food toxins added to our processed food, so people are getting poisoned by the drugs that they are taking,  medicines that they take, because these are chemicals the body has very great difficulty eliminating. So I typically tell people “clean out your liver” and that is why I have written the book “THE AMAZING LIVER AND GALL BLADDER FLUSH“, make sure you do not keep gathering and collecting toxins in the body and dumping them into the connective tissues and then make the organs weaker and weaker and suffocate the cells, but to allow the natural turnover of cells every two to ten days or six weeks for muscle cells for example, and once a month for every skin cell, but in order for those cells to be vital and to remain that way, we need to make sure the body is cleansed from time to time and cleaning out the liver is obviously one of the most important ways to make sure that the rest of the body stays neat and clean because the liver is the blood cleansing organ number one, and it retrieves and takes out these toxins, passes them into the bile duct, unfortunately that causes the coagulation of the bile, the bile becomes thick and hardens into little pebbles and stones and these are called intra-hepatic gallstones by the John Hopkins University,  when they are  clogging  the bile flow than we do not digest the food well any more, once the food digestion is interfered with, then the nutrients will not get to the cells, the cells will become weaker and age. So then we have the fast process of aging. People who have a clean liver, you can tell from their skin, from their appearance, from the muscle tone, the lack of excessive fat in the body where the metabolism, the digestion, is sufficient and the detoxification system is very effective too. So, I have found that people who do liver flushes on a regular basis or clean out their liver between like, two, three, a couple of series of liver flushes, then they will have a completely different energy to them they look radiant, their eyes look radiant, the skin is without any blemishes and age spots and things like that, so that is a way to keep your body healthy.

Greg Voisen: Well, that is one of those organs that I do not think many people out there think much of, they just take it for granted, yet it is the house of cards that operates everything within our body and that liver flush I think is important. You say that if we produce enough endorphins, serotonin and interleukin too, that we are able to arrest this aging process. I know that serotonin is a chemical that is released and endorphins through exercise. People that have low serotonin levels get depressed and some of them end up committing suicide, I actually know a friend whose daughter committed suicide and when they did her serotonin levels, there just wasn’t any, they could not find any. So how is that you can help people improve these through natural foods and processes d you give people, exercise programs and so on, to improve it so that it reduces this or arrests it, as you said, the aging process.

Andreas Moritz: The brain hormones are very, very people powerful and they are interlinked with the biological workings in our body and the largest rhythm that we know of is the circadian rhythm. It is the sunrise-sunset and the cycles that they involve. In the morning, when the sun is rising you naturally start producing serotonin, and serotonin even though it is called a brain hormone, in fact ninety percent of it is produced in the digestive system and five percent in the brain and only five percent in the blood. So most of the serotonin is created in the digestive tract which shows that eating the biggest meal of the day at midday serves you best because that is when your digestive system makes the most serotonin, and once you make a lot of serotonin which is at midday when you make the most, then you digest your meal most efficiently and then you have the best nutrients going to the cells in your body including the brain cells. So when you eat the biggest meal, the heaviest meal in the evening, you naturally only digest only ten to fifteen percent of that food because serotonin levels are that low. And so when you have inadequate digestion and lot of indigestive food piling up in the gastrointestinal tract which decomposes and produces toxins and it interferes with your sleep as well, as these toxins that are circulating around the system during the night time, then you have a problem with the psychological aspect as well because you wake up in the morning and you are feeling… not good, you feel low in energy, you feel sluggish, depressed,  you do not have the energy. Once the energy levels are dropping, you cannot be happy. So for the body,  for you to be happy, you have to have a good amount of energy, and serotonin is linked with another hormone that is called melatonin. So when you are sleeping well during the night, and you have a long night’s rest between eight to nine hours and you sleep between ten and six which is the time when you make the most melatonin, the next day, your serotonin levels will be higher because melatonin is the breakdown product of serotonin and serotonin is the breakdown product of melatonin, so they feed one another. So if you have a good amount of melatonin in the night, you will make a lot  more serotonin during the day, if you are eating your main meal at lunch time you will not suppress serotonin levels, you will actually increase them and you will have more melatonin to play with during the night time. So again, simple things like that were the secret of happy people in the olden days. So they knew how to stay healthy, happy and strong by following the circadian rhythms.

Greg Voisen: Well, so much of your advice in the book  “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION” it’s practical advice, it is something anybody can do, they can go anywhere and get these supplements, they can take the ayurvedic quiz which is inside the book, I mean, it really is an amazing book, I just again want to acknowledge you. But you state that disease, and this is my kind of closing question, is the occurrence of toxicity crisis which you call it, which is the body’s attempt, as you’ve been saying all along, to balance this condition called homeostasis, and for some of our listeners, they are going to know what homeostasis is, it is bacterial level balance, how is it that we can bring our body back to this balance and harmony? What will be some of the parting words that you will give about hydration, the kind of foods we should eat, how we should treat ourselves, mediation, the whole mind-body principle to actually get to this state of homeostasis?

Andreas Moritz: Well, it is actually not difficult because the body is doing that naturally and when you have a disease, that is the body’s way of returning to that state of balance. So the disease itself is part of the healing mechanism and trying to remove toxins. An infection is not a disease, an infection is the invitation of the body, the body inviting bacteria, germs, to come in to the system to dissolve, to breakdown and to decompose the cells that have are already been damaged or dead and so the body will never allow anything to attack healthy cells. The body only allows bacteria to attack unhealthy cells. So the disease itself is already the healing response that the body is allowing or supporting. We do not have to prevent that, we do not have to fight it. What we can focus on is, eating food, the main meal at lunch time which will allow you to digest it more successfully, have a lighter evening meal, go to bed before ten so that the body can cleanse the blood stream, the liver works between ten and two more effectively then at any other time and it needs all the blood from the back of the brain and from the digestive system and the muscles in order to cleanse the blood stream and not sleeping around that time obviously does not allow you to do that, so then the body accumulates toxins. If the toxins cannot be broken down because you are not sleeping well, and hydration methods and eating habits are contrary to what the body really wants, then we need disease in order to take care of that. And we blame the disease for making us unwell, but the disease itself is the way to get us back to homeostasis, to balance. So in either way, whichever way we live, we are being corrected one way or another. But we should not fight that, we should support the body, we should allow the body to do the job effectively and not hold it up or suppress it when it is getting sick.

Greg Voisen: Well Andreas, you definitely are a wealth of knowledge and I think what I would like to do is, I would like to invite you back to do another program because I believe that for our listeners, I am fascinated by what you are saying and I believe that it is kind of hard to cover all of these topics and I probably had about six more questions that I did not have the time to actually ask you today, but I would like to invite you back and I’d like you to let our listeners know, where they can go to get “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION” I know that I received it as an e-book, I think they can order it from your website as well. Grains are Not Easy to Digest

  Grains are not easy to digest

This is a question with regard to diet, the question goes like that “I was wondering what your opinion is on eating grains and seeds and I read somewhere that  it says we cannot break open the cellular structure of insoluble fiber through chewing and the three hours of our digestive process in the stomach making the nutrients in the grains and seeds completely unavailable to us. Since this is so, eating grain requires excessive insulin in the effort of digestion which creates a very high acid environment. As we are told to eat them, I was curious as to whether it was right? Many thanks “

I have written about them extensively in my book “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION” but let me summarize it in this way. Grains are, in fact, not easy to digest, give them to cows which is common practice nowadays, you see what happens, they look like nine months pregnant… very, very large, bloated and they get ill very, very quickly. So giving humans too many grains to eat, you can expect there is a lot of fermentation as a result of not completely digesting these grains. Particularly if they are whole wheat grains, so, that means entire seeds.

You go to some bakeries and you see like seven grain or seven seed breads wherein they pack in every seed you can think of that can be used for baking breads, now that is almost an impossibility, you look at birds, birds have a goiter and a goiter is used to keep seeds, to be there for long, long time, to allow them to swell, to become expended and to ferment… that means to allow bacteria to digest those seeds or grains in the goiter. Now, we do not have that goiter, everything moves right into the stomach and you are absolutely right, if the grains are eaten and you do not masticate properly, on top of it, it is very hard to digest them quickly and if they are not digested quickly it can lead to fermentation, later on you can attract a lot of Candida bacteria that finish up the job of fermentation and that can create toxins and a lot of irritation, gas, bloatedness and them some of the toxins end up going in the blood stream and can make you feel unwell even in the head, your thinking is not clear, your memory recall may suffer or you are just not happy. So, a lot of that is true, so what do you do about it?

Well, if you soak the grains and the seeds before you cook them or use them then, you are basically helping to predigest them, so that is a practice that has been one on this planet for a long time. So if for example, if you eat pumpkin seeds, which can be extremely beneficial for many conditions, like for men prostate, and have many, many nutrients good for the brain and have certain fats in them, good for the joints, so there are many benefits from it, however, if you eat it in a raw form when you have not soaked it, you may not digest much of it and therefore it becomes just wasted money and it can also leave these foods undigested and create more digestive problems and bloating.

So I do recommend to soak grains and seeds before you cook them and not to have the heaviest seeds, something just does not cook, even long cooking will not break them down, you know that your body will not break it down especially if you eat it in a raw form which is virtually impossible to make use of those kinds of foods. So many people believe that eating whole grains, whole wheat food is a lot better than if you strip parts from the grain and eat it in its more refined manner, and, I can tell you that it depends on the body type.

There are some people who can break them down more easily… the whole grains… than the body types that have a slow metabolism. Hyper metabolic people they are called the Vatas, which is described in the book “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION“, they have a better handle on those kinds of whole grainy type foods where as the opposite body type the Kapha type stands no chance with their slow, low metabolism, they have no ability to break down these sort of tight and dense structures of grains and seeds, some of them, they may not benefit from those kinds of foods anyway, they prefer to have more light foods that are not heavy in texture, light grains, like barley is a great one for them, they can easily digest it whereas, the Vata body type does not do very well with barley for example, it is too light for them, they need heavier structures.

So again it depends on who you are, what body type you have, that will determine whether you are more prone to not digesting them or you are more likely able to digest those kinds of foods, but overall, I recommend to make sure that the seeds are soaked in water, ideally twenty-four hours before taking them that includes sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, any of that kind and grain foods just as much.  Rice, I recommend as basmati rice, it does not need much soaking beforehand, but half an hour before is good enough or two hours or six hours before cooking makes it very well cook, it is very easy to cook, it cooks in no time when you soak them beforehand.

Knowing Your Body Type + Why Garlic and Onion are Bad for You

Knowing your body type and why garlic and onion are bad 

This is a question from Matt Leslie and, he is reading through my book “TIMELESS SECRETS OF HEALTH AND REJUVENATION” and he was hoping I would help him to answer a couple of questions. The first one is: How do you know your body type? I find it that I posses qualities from each of the types. None seems to fit better than the others? And this is a question that I personally probably would not be able to answer directly, to tell you what body type you are, without getting a good image of you and knowing a couple of more details about you personally . A good ayurvedic physician would be able to determine which, what, body type you are.

The thing is that oftentimes we get confused over what kind of body type we are ‘Vata’, ‘Pitta’ or ‘Kapha’ or, what combination thereof, because, we do not quite understand the symptoms that we are concerned with. For example, a person with a vata-pitta body type, that means there is more vata in him than the pitta, the person may have diarrhea for some reason, loose stools, and he thinks that he is a pitta type. In reality he is  a vata type with a pitta imbalance.

So the imbalance is stronger than the actual body type characteristics. So in that case he will have to deal with the pitta imbalance first and once that has been corrected then you will, the person will, recognize himself as a vatha body type. That means vatha is dominating and pitha is secondary. likewise a person who has a, for example a vatha- kapha person, where vata and kapha are seem to be pronounced very strongly that the person suffers from constipation on the one hand, and also from sinus congestion and mucus aggravation in the throat and the chest. So the person being a vata-kapha type, has a kapha imbalance perhaps and by dealing with the kapha imbalance, simply by reducing certain kapha increasing foods or mucus aggravating foods like ice-cream and sugar and dairy products, then, the person would have a more clearer idea of what body type he really is.

So once the symptom of imbalance has been removed, then the person will know what body type he is. And this applies to you as well. So I would suggest you deal with the underlying issues or conditions that you are having, and then when you will do the test again you will find that it becomes much more clear what body type you actually are.

The second question deals with raw garlic and raw onion.

In the book I mentioned that they are not very good for human consumption. You are saying that you squeeze raw garlic on every salad that you eat. Garlic is actually a poison, that is why the Italians soldiers who were not very good shooters during World War II, they were not very good at aiming at the enemy, they were putting, smearing garlic on the bullets that they put in their guns and then, they shot at the enemy and hopefully they hit the enemy somewhere, maybe at the leg, and the enemy soldiers died simply by the garlic entering the blood stream and killing the person. So garlic is a very-very strong toxin and that’s why it can kill a lot germs, bacteria and fungi. So this is something that gives rise to some benefits for the time being.

I am not a great fan of killing germs because you leaving behind a huge number, billions of, corpses of dead bacteria that you then need to dispose of, which can then attract other bacteria into the body that were not designed to come in. So it a double edged sword. I personally do not want to expose my body to a strong toxin like raw onion and raw garlic. If you cook them, then the toxicity is reduced by a great deal.

So I would recommend that if you do want them then, do not eat it raw, but cook them. Otherwise there are studies now to show that garlic, in fact, can destroy brain cells and it can also burn little holes into the intestinal wall. So it can burn. You eat raw garlic and it burns your throat. It has an inflammation inducing effect if there is too much close contact with some of the delicate lining of the intestine. So I personally recommend, particularly, for people who have digestive problems who may suffer from a condition called  leaky blood where these kind of toxins can enter the blood stream and can cause problems elsewhere in the body.

The third question that you raised is related to Candida, why would fermented cabbage be bad for you?

This is in relation to, again, people who suffer, who are of a particular body type, who suffer from a pitta imbalance. Pitta people, or people suffering from a pitta imbalance, do not benefit from fermented foods which are very sour and, the sour taste can impact the immune system and reduce their ability to digest food. So for them taking fermented foods including vinegar, can have a detrimental effect.

So once again it depends on who you are. If you are a vata type who in addition suffers from constipation then yes, I do not have a problem recommending fermented cabbage because it will help to open up the bowel and help to increase the population of probiotic bacteria. So if you have had any benefit from eating fermented cabbage, by all means go for it; as long as you feel good, it will do you good. But if a person is a pitta type, it is unlikely that you would feel good and you would start getting loose stools and feel that there is something that is not quite right, you might feel bloated, gassy and, in fact, this is the case then I would certainly recommend not taking fermented food.
