The body will self-regulate its food intake if you listen to it

Hi, this is a message from Miranda,  and she is wondering whether it really matters if we do not eat the 1200 calories we are suppose to eat per day? Sometimes I eat more and often I eat less. Since foods and veggies have less calories will this decrease my metabolism?

Again I personally, I am not into the calorie counting, like so many are. Because it does not really matter. Go by your gut, how you feel. There are studies to show, studies done on children, where the children were allowed to eat anything they wanted and initially they started overeating and the following day they were eating much less and eventually they all evened out. The body will regulate itself if you listen to it, if you take the cues that the body is sending you at every moment, so one day you may not have used all the energy that you derived from the food, you have a surplus and then the body will not be tempted or prompted to eat more food, then you may find you’re eating less, and then sometimes you have a deficit of energy and your body is eating some more. So, listen to your gut, follow your instincts in that regard. As long as you eat foods that are natural, that contain vitamins, minerals… ideally organic foods… so you get the maximum benefit from those foods regardless of how many calories they contain or do not contain.

It is more important that you enjoy your food and that you do not start making it a science like counting the calories thinking, “Oh my God! I had too many calories from that food and I should reduce this food.” it makes, it takes the joy out of eating, which can cause more problems than even if you eat something that is not that appropriate for you; you will still derive benefit if you eat it with joy. So do not make eating a stressful experience. This is probably the simplest advice I can give you in that regard.
